Free Technical Courses of IFNMG in Distance Education Gather Hundreds of Vacancies in Northern Minas, with Admission Still This Year, Simplified Selection without Exam and Presential Poles in Strategic Cities of the Region, Focused on Those Seeking Recognized Professional Training.
The Federal Institute of Northern Minas Gerais (IFNMG) has opened a selection process for free technical courses in the Distance Education modality, with mandatory weekly presential meetings.
The selection, according to the campus announcement, is made without an exam and uses the scores of Portuguese Language and Mathematics from High School to classify candidates.
The Public Notice No. 186/2025 provides 420 vacancies distributed across support poles in Carlos Chagas, Nanuque, and Governador Valadares, with entry in the second academic semester of 2025.

Distribution of Vacancies and Offered Technical Courses
The opportunities are divided between the concomitant and subsequent modalities.
In the first, the candidate continues attending High School at another institution while taking the technical course.
In the second, the vacancy is intended for those who have already completed this stage.
In both cases, the proposal combines distance activities with weekly presential moments, which may also occur on Saturdays, according to the organization of each pole.
In Carlos Chagas, the notice provides 40 vacancies for the Technical Course in Agriculture, in the evening period.
In Nanuque, there are two classes of Agriculture, also at night, with 40 vacancies in the locality of Vila Gabriel Passos and another 40 in Vila Pereira.
The largest volume of vacancies appears in Governador Valadares, where IFNMG concentrates three technical courses, all in the evening shift.
The notice includes 60 vacancies for School Feeding, 120 for School Secretary, and 60 for Translation and Interpretation in Libras.
Thus, the pole totals 240 vacancies and accounts for more than half of the total offered.
Selection by School History without Exam Application
One of the central points of the process is the absence of an exam.
Classification, according to the announcement of the notice, occurs through analysis of High School grades, with arithmetic mean calculation involving Portuguese Language and Mathematics.
The candidate needs to present the school history to prove the grades reported in the application.
As there are candidates with different educational backgrounds, the notice describes that the calculation considers records from the 1st and 2nd years, and may extend to the 3rd year when applicable.
In practice, this means that the competition tends to focus on the consistency of performance in these two subjects, as they form the numerical basis for the final score.
In addition to ranking by grades, the selection process adopts reserve of vacancies according to quota legislation, with part of the opportunities intended for students who completed basic education in public schools.
The announcement also mentions specific provisions for groups such as people with disabilities and graduates of Agricultural Family Schools, as outlined in the notice.
Distance Education Model with Mandatory Presential Meetings
Although the modality is Distance Education, IFNMG defines the model as hybrid, with weekly presential meetings.
Generally, these moments concentrate guidance, activities, and presential assessments, according to the dynamics of each course and the calendar of the pole.
The requirement to attend is a decisive point for those who live far from the support location, as the commitment is not limited to the virtual environment.
Even though the courses are offered in the evening, the announcement warns that presential meetings may occur on Saturdays.
This expands the reach for those who work during the week but also requires time and travel organization, especially in municipalities with limited intermunicipal transport.
Calendar of the Selection Process and Official Stages
IFNMG reported that registrations for Public Notice No. 186/2025 will be open from December 15 to 22, 2025, in the campus online system.
The final result is expected on January 27, 2026. The enrollment period takes place from January 28 to February 3, 2026.
As the stages advance quickly, attention to deadlines tends to be decisive.
Those who miss the enrollment period may end up disqualified, with the call of subsequent candidates, according to the usual rules of selection processes.
