Classes are in-person and take place in different campuses spread throughout Rio de Janeiro and the metropolitan region, with methodologies that blend lectures, discussion forums, seminars, and exams.

Distribution of Vacancies and Offering Locations
In total, there are 984 vacancies available. For elementary education, there are 231 opportunities distributed among the Centro, Engenho Novo II, Humaitá II, Realengo II, São Cristóvão II, and Tijuca II campuses.
For high school, there are 753 vacancies, divided as follows:
- 40 at the Centro campus
- 75 in Duque de Caxias
- 12 in Engenho Novo II
- 210 in Niterói
- 80 in Realengo II
- 20 in São Cristóvão III
- 20 in Tijuca II
- 30 in the evening program at Humaitá II
The big news is the integrated high school with technical education, which combines academic training with professional qualification.
Available Technical Courses
MEC has released four options for free technical courses within Colégio Pedro II:
- Technical in Administration
- Technical in Systems Development
- Technical in Environmental Studies
- Technical in Musical Instrument (Flute or Guitar)
These programs are conducted in strategic units, ensuring that young people can prepare for the job market in high-demand areas from an early age. According to the National Education Plan, technical education has been gaining momentum as a priority to enhance the employability of Brazilian students.
Selection Process and Quota System
The selection process will be through objective tests and an essay. For those seeking a spot in elementary education, the exam is scheduled for October 26, 2025. Candidates for high school will take the test on November 2, 2025, covering content in Portuguese, Mathematics, essay writing, and specific subjects for technical courses.
Additionally, those opting for the Musical Instrument course must take a Specific Skill Test.
The notice also reaffirms MEC’s commitment to social inclusion: there will be quotas for students from public schools, candidates who are Black, Brown or Indigenous, people with disabilities (PwDs), and low-income families. This measure follows the national policy of democratizing access to education.
Requirements
To compete for vacancies in elementary education, students must be currently enrolled in or have completed the 5th grade by 2025 and be born on or after March 1, 2013. For high school, students are required to be finishing or have completed the 9th grade.
During registration, it will be necessary to present CPF and RG, as well as pay a fee of R$ 70, via Union Collection Guide (GRU), at Banco do Brasil. Low-income families can request a fee exemption between August 18 and 25, 2025.
