The program, recognized by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), unites efforts from educational institutions across the country to train a new generation of teachers capable of promoting accessible and diverse education.
How to Participate in the Master’s in Inclusive Education
To compete for a slot, the candidate must be a classroom teacher in basic education, hold a degree in teaching or an equivalent title, and be registered with the Ministry of Education (MEC).
According to the notice, this master’s program is ideal for educators already working in regular classrooms and in Special Educational Assistance (AEE), offering the opportunity to develop pedagogical techniques that integrate, rather than exclude, students with special needs.
PROFEI also broadens its focus to teachers from all over the country, with slots distributed across various regions and renowned institutions, such as federal and state universities, in addition to federal institutes.
The priority areas of action for teachers will be distributed among research lines that directly address inclusive and special education.
Research Lines of PROFEI
The master’s program offers three major research areas for participants to practically contribute to the development of inclusive methodologies and strategies:
Special Education from the Perspective of Inclusive Education: Focused on understanding the dynamics of special education in order to integrate them with inclusion practices in schools.
Technological Innovation and Assistive Technology: Explores the use of technologies and assistive tools as support for students with diverse needs, promoting the use of modern resources.
Training Practices and Processes for Educators for Inclusive Education: Analyzes and develops training processes for teachers, encouraging teaching practices that ensure accessibility and equity in the classroom.

How Does the Selection Process Work?
The selection process will be rigorous, according to information released by MEC.
Candidates will undergo a curriculum analysis, in addition to a written evaluation and knowledge test on inclusive education.
According to PROFEI, the proposal is to select teachers who can apply what they learn directly in their pedagogical practices, bringing innovation and commitment to inclusion in Brazilian schools.
The Importance of the Program
PROFEI aims to transform the reality of Brazilian public education, training professionals who will work directly towards a more inclusive school committed to differences.
Inclusion in education is essential for all children and adolescents to have a complete and equitable experience, developing skills and integrating socially from school.
This is an important step towards improving the country’s education system, ensuring that all students, regardless of their condition, have access to quality learning.
The PROFEI from MEC emerges as a unique opportunity for educators who wish to make a difference and carry the banner of inclusion into schools, respecting diversity and promoting collective growth.
