The Oswaldo Cruz House (COC/Fiocruz) announced that the registration for the Specialization Course in Science Communication and Popularization has been extended until January 16, 2025.
This decision gives more time for interested parties to apply and take advantage of this incredible chance to become specialists in mediating the dialogue between science, technology, and society.
The course, which offers 20 spots, will be held in person at the Fiocruz Manguinhos campus, located in Rio de Janeiro.
Classes will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 9 AM to 5 PM. One detail that makes this opportunity even more attractive is that there are no application fees or tuition, meaning it is completely free.
Objectives And Target Audience

What Will The Selection Process Be Like?
The selection will be carried out in three rigorous and highly competitive stages:
Document Analysis (eliminatory): The documents submitted by candidates will be evaluated by the organizing team.
Evaluation of the Letter of Intent, Preliminary Project, and Resume (eliminatory and classificatory): The quality of the candidate’s proposal and its compatibility with the course objectives will be analyzed.
Online Interview (eliminatory and classificatory): A conversation will be conducted with the candidates to verify their commitment and motivation.
To be approved, candidates need to achieve a minimum score of 7.0 in each stage. The final ranking will be calculated based on the average scores of the second and third stages.
In case of a tie, criteria such as the highest score in the second stage, the highest score in the third stage, and the oldest age will be considered.
Who Can Participate?
The 20 available spots are distributed in an inclusive manner, ensuring diversity in the student body. The distribution is as follows:
- 13 spots for open competition.
- 4 spots for black candidates (Black and Brown).
- 2 spots for people with disabilities.
- 1 spot for Indigenous candidates.
