The University of São Paulo (USP), considered the best higher education institution in Brazil, is now accepting applications for the specialization in Neurofunctional Physiotherapy.
The course, offered by the Ribeirão Preto School of Medicine (FMRP), will be entirely distance learning, allowing physiotherapists from across the country to qualify without needing to travel.
Classes will start in August 2025 and run until August 2026, featuring updated content aimed at professionals who wish to deepen their understanding of treating patients with neurological disorders.

Target Audience and Course Objective
The specialization course in Neurofunctional Physiotherapy is aimed at graduated physiotherapists, who must prove their graduation upon enrollment.
Foreign professionals can enroll, but must present a diploma validated in Brazil.
The objective of the specialization is to train physiotherapists to assist patients with functional kinetic disorders resulting from neurological syndromes.
During the course, students will have access to an updated technical arsenal and will develop an enhanced clinical reasoning, which will allow for more effective and humanized care.
How Will the Course Be?
The specialization will be conducted 100% online, which offers flexibility for professionals to balance their studies with their work routine.
The course consists of 24 modules, each containing assessments and consolidation activities, ensuring that students absorb knowledge progressively and effectively.
Moreover, the curriculum is designed for students to acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, essential for practicing in the field of neurofunctional physiotherapy.
Evaluation and Approval Criteria
To obtain certification, students must meet a series of requirements, including:
- Consolidation activities in the 24 modules (with a minimum grade of 7.0)
- Final exam with 20 multiple-choice questions
- Course Completion Project (TCC), evaluated by a examining board
- Minimum attendance of 75% in all subjects and activities
The final grade will be comprised of the sum of the evaluation activities of the modules, the grade from the final exam, and the grade from the TCC, divided by three.
Investment and Waiver Possibility
The enrollment fee for the course is R$ 290.00.
However, USP will offer 30 free slots for candidates who meet the established socioeconomic criteria.
If the number of eligible candidates exceeds the limit of waivers, a curriculum analysis will be conducted to determine the beneficiaries.
The following criteria will be considered for tie-breaking:
- Graduation from a public university
- Participation in scientific initiation
- Postgraduate stricto sensu with exclusive dedication
- Residency, enhancement, or specialization
- Master’s or doctorate
- Academic publications
Candidates wishing to apply for the waiver must submit their resumes by July 4, 2025 for analysis.
