The Fiat 147, an automotive icon of the 70s in Brazil, had its trajectory ended due to internal competition with the modern Fiat Uno. Initially launched in 1976, the Fiat 147 was the first car from the Italian automaker produced in its factory in Betim, Minas Gerais. Inspired by the Italian model 127, the model was notable for its compact size, innovative design, and a transversely mounted engine that maximized interior space.
The Fiat 147 stood out with its straight lines and a short front that included rectangular headlights and a black grille with horizontal slats. The car’s rear was equally striking, with wraparound taillights and a trunk lid that extended to them. The model not only efficiently utilized interior space, thanks to the transverse engine position, but also offered versatility, with the option to fold down the rear seat to expand cargo capacity to up to 953 liters.
