To avoid a fine or having your driver's license suspended, drivers must know the main traffic laws and drive with caution.

Driving on public roads requires responsibility and respect for traffic rules established by the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB). Unfortunately, many drivers risk not only their lives, but also those of other users by committing very serious infractions. These conducts not only put everyone's safety at risk but also carry severe penalties, including fines that can reach up to R$5.869,40 and the suspension of the National Driving License (CNH).

Infractions that can result in fines and suspended driving license

The CTB details several situations where drivers can be penalized with high fines and the temporary suspension of their driver's licenses.

Discover the five main infractions

Article 165

Driving under the influence of alcohol or other psychoactive substances that determine dependence is subject to a fine of a maximum amount of R$ 2.934,70, in addition to the suspended driver's license and removal of the vehicle.

In cases of recurrence, the value can double to R$5.869,40.

Article 173

Participating in unauthorized races results in a fine of up to R$ 2.934,70, suspension of the driver's license and seizure of the vehicle. Repeat offenses can double the amount of the fine.

Article 174

Organizing or participating in unauthorized competitions on public roads implies a fine, suspension of the driver's license and seizure of the vehicle, with amounts that can reach R$5.869,40 in the case of a repeat offense.

Article 175

Carrying out risky maneuvers such as sudden starts or skidding results in a fine and suspension of your driver's license, with even more severe penalties in the case of a repeat offense.

Article 191

Forcing overtaking in risky situations is subject to fines and driver's license suspension, with amounts doubling in the event of a repeat offense.

Respecting traffic rules not only avoids fines, severe penalties or withdrawal of your driver's license, but also contributes to the safety of all public road users.

Knowing the traffic laws and acting responsibly are essential attitudes for safer traffic and for the preservation of one's own life and that of other people involved.
