New Public Competition Fiocruz Is Coming And Aims To Open 1,400 Positions In Various Roles. The Last Public Competition Of The Institution Took Place 7 Years Ago.

The realization of a new competition by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) is seen as a priority by Mario Moreira, the new president of the institution. Last Friday (12), during his inauguration speech, the executive reinforced that the institution must hire no less than 1,400 new professionals.

Fiocruz Competition Promises To Open Around 1,400 Positions

According to the new president, Fiocruz urgently needs a new public competition. The institution already has a demand for the replacement of approximately 1,400 people. This is what its agenda with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Management is currently about. However, there is still no forecast for when a new announcement might be effectively published.

Having not held public competitions for permanent positions in almost 7 years, Fiocruz has only conducted selection processes for temporary staff. During the Covid-19 pandemic, 1,172 people were hired temporarily for various roles, for positions at the secondary, technical, and higher levels.

In 2020, amid the pandemic, the Fiocruz Workers’ Union (Asfoc) already expressed concern regarding the workforce situation. At the time, the category requested the calling of candidates approved in the 2016 competition. However, the validity period of the selection processes had already expired.

At that time, Asfoc pointed to the demand for additional staff in the positions of researcher, technical assistant, specialist, and public health assistant. Opportunities were distributed across roles at the secondary, technical, and higher levels, including administrative assistants, pharmacy technicians, radiology technicians, and nursing technicians, as well as doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, pharmacists, social workers, psychologists, occupational health physicians, and nutritionists.

Understand How The Last Public Competition Of Fiocruz Was

The last Fiocruz competition for permanent positions was held in 2016, as previously mentioned, when 150 positions were made available, focusing on roles at the secondary and higher levels. The organizing body at that time was the institution itself. For secondary education, the positions were for Technical Assistant in Health Management (21 positions) and Public Health Technician (61 positions).

For higher education, the positions were for specialist in science and technology, production and innovation in public health, with 10 positions, and researcher in public health with 58 positions. The opportunities from the public competition at that time were for the following states:

  • Bahia;
  • Distrito Federal;
  • Piauí;
  • Rondônia;
  • Minas Gerais;
  • Rio de Janeiro;
  • Amazonas;
  • Pernambuco;
  • Ceará;
  • Paraná.

Before that, another public competition was held in 2014 for 400 positions at the secondary and higher levels. At that time, for secondary education, the positions were for the role of public health technician, with an offer of 75 positions. For higher education, the distribution was as follows: public health technology, with 128 positions, specialist, with 25 opportunities, public health management analyst, with 8 positions, and researcher with 164 positions.
