Foresea Achieves API SPEC Q2 Certification for the Fourth Year, Excelling in Operational Quality Management in Offshore Drilling in Brazil.
Foresea has once again stood out this year by securing, for the fourth consecutive time, the certification granted by the American Petroleum Institute. This international recognition underscores the company’s commitment to operational excellence, especially in such a demanding sector as offshore drilling. The certification reinforces Foresea’s position as a benchmark in the market, demonstrating its ability to maintain high-quality standards.
In addition to being the pioneer in Brazil with its entire drilling fleet certified to the API SPEC Q2 standard, Foresea continues to lead innovative initiatives to enhance the quality of its services. The ongoing achievement of the Quality Management certification is a testament to the company’s dedication to improving its processes. Foresea’s technical expertise significantly contributes to its prominence in the competitive offshore market.
Quality Management System
Implemented by the American Petroleum Institute (API), the standard establishes which suppliers in the oil and natural gas industries comply with demanding guidelines of the Quality Management System (QMS). These criteria encompass the control of their operational processes, pursuit of continuous improvements, and provision of consistent results aimed at increasing customer satisfaction.

Our commitment to operational excellence is demonstrated by the certifications we have obtained and the results of the regular audits in which we participate. It is a great source of pride for Foresea to be the pioneer and still the only offshore drilling company to achieve API Q2 certification for all its asset units in Brazil. CEO Rogério Ibrahim emphasizes this remarkable achievement.
Rigorous Audits and Inspections
The audit was conducted in person in Macaé (RJ), where the company’s base is located, in addition to the Norbe VI and Norbe IX rigs, between September 9 and 20, with the presence of two auditors from the API who have international experience. Among the positive aspects highlighted by the auditors are the knowledge, competence, and experience of the team members, as well as the integration of quality management processes for the offshore units. The criticality of suppliers according to the scope of service evaluation was also highlighted.
Last year, API CEO Mike Sommers visited Brazil, marking the first time he observed the activities of an offshore drilling rig. Together with a team from the institute and several executives from Foresea, Sommers observed operations on the Norbe IX drillship, located at the exploratory well of Sagittarius in the Campos Basin. He praised the offshore work, highlighting the efficiency with which Brazilian workers are producing essential supplies to ensure energy security during a critical period in world history.
Excellence in Certification
The Quality Management certification, especially the API SPEC Q2 standard, plays a vital role in defining industry standards, providing a robust framework for operational process control. This not only strengthens the company’s foundation but also consolidates the integration of processes. Frequent and rigorous audits ensure that the Quality Management certification is not just a title, but a living and effective practice that promotes continuous improvement and increased efficiency, directly reflecting on the operational success of the company and the satisfaction of its clients.
