The Capital of Ceará Stands Out Among Northeastern Cities, Leading Job Creation Due to Economic Growth Driven by Tourism, Technology, and Services Sectors. Recent Data from March 2025 Indicates a 23% Increase in Formal Job Vacancies Compared to the Previous Year, Making Fortaleza a Regional Benchmark.

Fortaleza, the capital of Ceará, established itself in 2025 as the city with the most job opportunities in the Brazilian Northeast. According to data recently released by Terra Brasil Notícias, the city leads the generation of formal jobs in the region, especially standing out in sectors such as tourism, technology, and services. The capital of Ceará recorded a significant growth of 23% in the number of new vacancies in March of this year compared to the same period in 2024.

This expansion of the job market is directly related to Fortaleza’s ability to diversify its economy by investing in infrastructure, professional training, and technological innovation. The combination of these factors has attracted national and international investments, strengthening the city as a strategic economic hub in the Northeast.

Tourism Sector Boosts Opportunities in Fortaleza

The tourism sector is one of the main drivers of continuous job creation in Fortaleza. With a wide hotel network, diverse gastronomy, and internationally recognized cultural attractions, the capital of Ceará has attracted tourists from various parts of Brazil and abroad. According to information from Terra Brasil Notícias, in just the first three months of 2025, the tourism sector generated approximately 5,000 new direct and indirect jobs.

International events held in the city, such as congresses and trade fairs, contribute to further heating the job market, boosting the events sector and associated services. Experts indicate that this positive trend is expected to continue in the coming years, consolidating Fortaleza as a strategic destination for business and leisure tourism.

Growth of the Technology Sector Generates Qualified Jobs

Another sector that puts Fortaleza in the spotlight is technology and innovation. The city has been recognized as one of the main technological hubs in the Northeast, receiving significant investments in digital infrastructure and attracting innovative startups. As reported by Terra Brasil Notícias, over 300 startups were opened in the city last year, resulting in the creation of hundreds of specialized jobs in the Information Technology field.

Public and private institutions have supported the training of qualified professionals through specific courses and programs aimed at the technology sector. This favorable environment encourages young talents and experienced professionals to seek opportunities in Fortaleza, further increasing the level of local competitiveness and innovation.

Trade and Services Remain as Fundamental Pillars

Trade and the services sector continue to be fundamental pillars of Fortaleza’s economy, responsible for the majority of new hires. Recent data released by Terra Brasil Notícias shows that in 2025, these sectors together accounted for almost 60% of the new vacancies generated in the city.

Large retail chains, shopping centers, and the expansion of e-commerce have driven the growth of these sectors, creating jobs primarily in roles related to sales, logistics, marketing, and customer service. Investments in urban mobility have also facilitated access to different regions of the city, increasing commercial flow and further strengthening the local market.
