Market sees decrease in gasoline, diesel and ethanol tariffs

The month of October brought good news for drivers: a notable decrease in the prices of the most popular fuels. With gasoline, Diesel e ethanol recording drops of 0,38%, 0,38% and 0,45%, respectively, the second week of the month saw ethanol emerge as an attractive financial option for flex-fuel cars in 15 states.

Gasoline: a closer look

Between October 06th and 12th, gasoline had a 0,38% decrease in its price, reaching a national average of R$5,967 per liter. São Paulo gained prominence as the place with the most economical fuel, priced at R$5,765, while Acre had the highest average, reaching R$6,834. This movement in prices was observed in a study by ValeCard, which analyzes transactions from more than 25 thousand establishments across Brazil.

Diesel: small drop, big impact

The same trend was observed in the price of diesel, which also fell 0,38%. The national average was R$6,364 per liter. Rio Grande do Sul achieved the position with the lowest average price, at R$5,907, while Roraima had the highest average, at R$6,915.

Brendon Rodrigues, innovation leader at ValeCard, explained: “Diesel is experiencing a moment of relative stability after peaks in August and September. As long as international oil prices do not skyrocket due to global conflicts, we do not expect major fluctuations in prices.”

Ethanol: the rising star

In the fuel race, hydrated ethanol stood out with a reduction of 0,45%, costing, on average, R$3,746 per liter. According to data from ValeCard, this was the second consecutive decrease in ethanol, driven by intensive production at the plants.

Rodrigues reiterated: “The price of ethanol for distributors fell 1,25% in the last four weeks, as indicated by Esalq's Cepea. This decrease partly benefited the end consumer.”
