The expansion will be gradual. By the end of March 2026, Gas do Povo intends to reach more than 15 million families, reaching other municipalities and expanding the network of accredited dealers throughout Brazil.
Who Is Entitled To The Gas Do Povo And The Voucher For Free Refill
The target audience of the Gas do Povo consists of low-income families enrolled in the Single Registry for Social Programs (CadÚnico). To be entitled to the free cylinder refill, some criteria must be met:
- Families enrolled in CadÚnico with income of up to half the minimum wage, currently R$ 759, per person or family, according to the established rule
- Priority for families receiving Bolsa Família, with per capita income of up to R$ 218
- Registration in CadÚnico updated within the last 24 months
In all cases, updating CadÚnico is essential for Gas do Povo to identify eligible families. Those with outdated registrations may have difficulty accessing the benefit, even if they meet the income criteria.
How The Withdrawal Of Cooking Gas Will Be Made

- Families of four or more people: six assists per year

The validity of each assist from the Gas do Povo also varies according to the size of the family:
- Families of two or three people: up to three months of validity, counted from the date when the voucher or authorization becomes available
- Families of four or more people: up to two months of validity, also from the release of the benefit
After this period, the free refill loses its validity and can no longer be used, which requires attention to the release date. The idea is to maintain a frequency of use that matches the typical cooking gas consumption in each family type.
