Despite the Contrasts of Recent Months Regarding Solar Energy Generation, the Trend Is That in 2020 New Records Will Be Achieved

The production of solar energy in Brazil in the first 15 days of 2020 rose to 590 average megawatts (MWa), up from 507 MWa a year ago, an increase of 16.3%. After the President of the Republic stated that this type of generation will no longer be taxed to consumers through a Bill That Will Be Discussed in Congress This Year, experts claim that this market still has plenty of room to grow.

On the other hand, wind generation fell by 39.7% to 3,518 MWa. Its share in the mix decreased from 5.5% to 5.2% at the beginning of 2019, according to data published in the Weekly InfoMarket from the Electric Energy Trading Chamber (CCEE), the weekly bulletin of energy generation and consumption.

Biomass energy generation increased from 1,074 MWa to 1,068 MWa. Hydroelectric plants (UHE) produced 50,763 MWa, down from 55,802 MWa the previous year. Brazil saw a huge increase in gas energy generation to 6,445 MWa, up from 2,912 MWa a year ago.

Total electricity generation decreased by 2.3% year-over-year in the first half of January, with 67,104 MWa delivered to the National Interconnected System (SIN). Demand reached 63,796 MWa, or 2.4% less than the previous year.

900 Job Vacancies in the Solar Energy Sector in June

Solar plants will create 900 job vacancies in the municipalities of Limoeiro do Norte and Tabuleiro do Norte, in the Jaguaribe Valley, in the State of Ceará. In addition to the 900 direct positions, more than 3,600 will be generated indirectly. Learn more details and how to apply here.

If you want to open your own solar energy installation company, we recommend the Café com Energia Course accessed here, with online and in-person classes. Once trained, there is no need to worry about materials or work supplies; they will provide everything needed so you can focus solely on installing the panels, it’s definitely worth it.
