With a focus on continuous development and the reconstruction of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Randoncorp took a grand initiative by donating 30 tons of steel for the reconstruction of essential bridges in the regions of Serra Gaúcha and Vale do Taquari. A ceremony held this Monday (17) marked the inauguration of 11 new road structures. This event was the result of extensive collaboration among private organizations, public authorities, and various regional entities.
The company committed to providing more than 30 tons of steel, which included vital structural profiles for the effective assembly of the bridges. This action integrates a joint effort to restore the area’s infrastructure, which was severely damaged by the floods in May 2024.
Restore Connections: The Crucial Role of Gerdau
Gerdau played a crucial role in the reconstruction, significantly contributing to the restoration of five bridges that were fundamental to the local road network. These bridges primarily aim to recover the mobility of over 13 thousand people affected. Among the structures that benefited, the bridges include: Linha Miguelzinho – Putinga, Linha Arroio do Laje – Coqueiro Baixo, Linha Usina – Ilópolis, Linha Sangão – Doutor Ricardo, and Canhada Funda – Pouso Novo.
This initiative is part of a total of R$ 51.4 million that Gerdau has already allocated for the reorganization of Rio Grande do Sul. These funds are directed not only to infrastructure but also for humanitarian support, housing, education, and the reconstruction of affected communities.
Historical Connection: Gerdau and Rio Grande do Sul
Gerdau maintains a deep and historical relationship with the region of Rio Grande do Sul, where the company was founded an impressive 124 years ago. To this day, it continues to operate with a strong presence in the local economy. Jean Peluso, Executive Manager of Gerdau’s unit in Sapucaia do Sul, called Riograndense, states: ‘As a genuinely Brazilian company, we are committed to supporting the people of Rio Grande do Sul during a time that still poses challenges.’
The reconstruction of the bridges is vital to ensure that people can return to their usual routines and to strengthen the economy of the region. Peluso adds: ‘We are proud to contribute to this process, reaffirming our commitment to the state and seeking a more resilient future for everyone.’
Inauguration Ceremony: A Moment of Unity
On the morning of the event, in Palmas, at Linha São Jacó, located in the municipality of Encantado, there was a ceremony celebrating the delivery of 10 new beneficent structures for the municipalities of Putinga, Ilópolis, Dr. Ricardo, Pouso Novo, Anta Gorda, Relvado, Arroio do Meio, Travesseiro, Coqueiro Baixo, and Encantado. In addition to the crucial participation of Randoncorp, the delivery counted on the support and partnership of organizations such as the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Vale do Taquari (CIC-VT), Federasul, Gerdau, Metasa, Reconstrói RS, Simon Engenharia, and Usiminas.
This action, which adds to ongoing reconstruction efforts, reflects the collective strength and determination of various entities, always focusing on the goal of rebuilding and making a safer and more prosperous future for all who live in the region.
