CTPS Digital Work Card

The Ministry of Labor has launched the Digital Work Card (CTPS), a new application for Android or iPhone, available to Brazilian workers from November 21st.

The digital Work Card (CTPS) can be issued by any worker, Brazilian or foreign, electronically, by providing their CPF number. As a result, this number replaces the physical Work and Social Security Card (CTPS) number, although the digital card does not serve as a civil identification for any person. The Brazilian economy generated 173.139 formal jobs.

The digital work card (CTPS) does not bring any change in worker rights. It just creates an electronic mechanism for recording its activities, replacing the old wallet and fulfilling all its functions.

All formal professional experiences, current as well as previous ones, will be in the app. It is about modernizing access to information and professional data.

It is important, however, that the physical CTPS is not discarded by the worker, as it can be useful to prove ties to previous jobs.

The objective is to make life easier for workers who will have the document at hand whenever they need to make a query. In this way, the worker who is hired by an employer, which does not yet use this system, must present his physical CTPS.

To download the application visit the download link on Android or iPhone. You need to be very careful with your smartphone's virtual store search results, especially on the Android operating system.

Unfortunately, there are many applications that pretend to be Digital Work Wallets and these can hide threats to steal your information. If in doubt, download from the link above.

How to get access to the Digital Job Card?

Visit https://servicos.mte.gov.br. Next, the page for the worker to register will come. Just click on the blue “I want to register” button.

Does the worker need to pay to enable the digital work card? No, it's free.

Change wallet number? As the digital wallet uses the CPF as a key number, the paper document number will not appear in the document.

What changes for companies? Companies that use eSocial will no longer need to make notes on their paper wallet or even fill out the digital wallet.

And how is the situation for companies that do not use eSocial? In these cases, it is still mandatory to write them down in the paper work card.

Can those who lost their paper work permit still apply for a digital one? You can, through the CTPS Digital application or over the internet (www.gov.br/trabalho).

What to do if you can't enable it? The worker can go to his bank, to the Caixa or Banco do Brasil ATMs or to one of the units of the Ministry of Economy.
