The 20th edition of the event focused exclusively on the distributed generation sector will take place in the capital Goiânia, from August 9 to 10.
Clean energy production by the consumer is becoming increasingly advantageous in Brazil. Data from the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) reveals that the sector currently has 22 GW of installed capacity and is expected to exceed another 1 GW soon, thus being considered a complete success.

The Midwest region is also standing out in this type of production. The state of Mato Grosso, for example, already has 1.3 GW of installed capacity on its own, followed by the state of Goiás, with also 1 GW. Mato Grosso do Sul and the Federal District, on the other hand, are still in the early stages, and it is precisely to boost this potential that the next edition of the Regional Forum on Distributed Generation in the Midwest region will take place.
The event, now in its 20th edition, will occur between August 9 and 10 at the Goiânia Convention Center, in Goiânia, Goiás. Organized by the FRG Media & Events Group and promoted by the Brazilian Association of Distributed Generation (ABGD), the forum will bring important discussions about the GD sector in the region, where business opportunities will be showcased, as well as challenges faced by the sector today being debated.
Tiago Fraga, CEO of FRG Media & Events Group, explains that the Forum aims to emphasize the importance of GD for reducing electricity bills, as well as the energy transition. This is because Brazil is a country of continental dimensions, and the idea of the event is to work in regions since each has its own attributes for this type of energy generation.
“The event has a representation in Goiânia, on the 9th and 10th. It makes the Brazilian capital of Goiás the capital of Distributed Generation of energy from renewable sources, which is a point we like to emphasize a lot, since Brazil is a country of continental dimensions, we work by regions because each region has its own aptitudes,” highlights Fraga.
It is worth noting that together, the four states in the Midwest region are currently responsible for 3.4 GW of installed capacity in distributed generation according to ANEEL. The expectation is that the capacity will increase even further in the coming years, as according to ABGD, the expectation is that DG in Brazil will end 2023 with 26 GW connected to the grid.
