Initiative Led By GoVerde Energy Will Have An Industrial Park In Candeias And Solar Plants In Five Municipalities, Consolidating Bahia As A Hub For Renewable Energy And Generating New Sustainable Jobs.
Bahia has just positioned itself as one of the most strategic states for the national energy transition. The company GoVerde Energy signed a memorandum of understanding with the State Government to invest R$ 9 billion in the production of clean energy through a megainvestment that will be divided into three phases and is expected to generate up to 24,000 direct and indirect jobs. The announcement was made this Wednesday (23) by the Bahia Secretary of Economic Development (SDE).
The new industrial park will be installed in the municipality of Candeias, located in the metropolitan region of Salvador, and will focus on the production of green methanol, green ammonia, oxygen, and solar energy. The factory will use state-of-the-art technology imported from Germany and will focus on exports to the international market.
GoVerde Industrial Park Will Be Executed In Phases
The project’s structure is divided into three phases. In each stage, 50 direct jobs will be created at the factory and 20 at the electricity generation unit. Additionally, GoVerde has committed to providing training for the local workforce, prioritizing residents of Candeias.

With 160,000 m² of collectors, an area larger than 20 football fields, Silkeborg, in Denmark, hosts a solar thermal plant that heats 19,500 homes and could become the largest solar heating plant in the world.
The total of R$ 9 billion will be divided between two main fronts: R$ 5.4 billion allocated to the manufacturing plant in Candeias and R$ 3.6 billion aimed at building solar plants in the municipalities of Juazeiro, Bom Jesus da Lapa, Pindaí, Brumado, and Irecê. These locations were strategically chosen due to their high solar incidence, ensuring efficiency in energy generation.
Solar Energy And Green Hydrogen Position Bahia As A National Reference
The solar park will have the capacity to generate up to 1.5 gigawatts (GW) per year, which represents a significant contribution to the state’s renewable energy matrix. The production of clean energy will be essential to supply the factory and reduce dependence on fossil sources, aligning the project with global environmental goals.
“Bahia positions itself as a protagonist in green economy actions. We continue to attract companies aligned with this purpose and in strategic geopolitical development,” highlighted the Secretary of Economic Development, Ângelo Almeida.
The first phase of the plant anticipates the production of 300,000 tons daily of green methanol and ammonia, in addition to 155,000 tons of oxygen. Subsequent phases will increase production by 200 tons per day each, consolidating the state as one of the largest hubs for renewable energy in the country.
Jobs And Training Are Part Of The GoVerde Megainvestment
In addition to the megainvestment in infrastructure and innovation, the socioeconomic impact of the project draws attention. According to GoVerde, the project is expected to generate 24,000 jobs throughout construction and operation. The plan includes direct hiring in technical areas as well as stimulating the local economy, generating indirect jobs in services, transportation, and food sectors.
“The production of clean energy is the path to the future. Green methanol is entering to decarbonize an entire chain in the maritime and aviation sectors. We believe that Bahia has the best conditions in the country to make a project of this magnitude viable,” stated the CEO of GoVerde Energy, Ricardo Junqueira.
Sustainability And Exportation At The Center Of The Megainvestment Strategy
The project was conceived with a focus on environmental sustainability and international competitiveness. The use of German technologies will allow for operations with low carbon emissions and a high degree of energy efficiency. The company’s expectation is to transform Bahia into a platform for exporting green fuels, contributing to the decarbonization goals of countries in Europe and Asia.
The products generated at the park, such as green methanol and ammonia, have broad applications in the naval industry, aviation sector, and fertilizers, making the project even more relevant in the global economic and environmental scenario.
The partnership between the State Government and GoVerde Energy demonstrates the commitment of Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues’s administration to position Bahia as a reference in clean energy production. The project adds to other strategic initiatives in the state, such as green hydrogen and wind farms.
“The world is searching for clean energy solutions. With this megainvestment, Bahia is taking the lead and reaffirming its commitment to the future. We are building a new cycle of development based on innovation, sustainability, and job creation,” emphasized Secretary Angelo Almeida.
