According to the Governor of Ceará, this movement was led during the administration of Governor Camilo Santana, establishing Ceará as a strong and engaged hub in this moment of energy transition, with both natural and institutional potential. The Hub comes to solidly evolve in Ceará, and Brazil will only have salvation if the Northeast continues to progress with renewable energies.
Fortescue Seeks Viable Opportunities for Green Hydrogen Production
According to the CEO of Fortescue Future Industries Latin America, the company is pleased to announce this new milestone in its work in the country with the government of Ceará and the authorities of the Industrial and Port Complex of Pecém.

In this way, in recent months, the company has begun to deepen its knowledge of the region, its biodiversity, and its communities through environmental and social impact studies. The signing of this pre-contract strengthens the progress of the Green Hydrogen Hub project at the Industrial and Port Complex of Pecém.
Therefore, with the pre-contract signed, the multinational plans to conduct studies and seek to identify viable opportunities for green hydrogen generation and make its best efforts to collaborate with local universities to create research programs to promote technologies related to the fuel.
Green Hydrogen Is the Future of Fuels
Green Hydrogen is emerging as the cleanest energy source for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and thus ensuring a sustainable future for the planet.
According to the study “Scaling Up” by the Hydrogen Council, by 2050, H₂V will represent about 18% of all energy consumed worldwide. Thus, the Government of Ceará developed the Green Hydrogen Hub in February of last year, in partnership with FIEC, UFC, and the Industrial and Port Complex of Pecém.
So far, 18 cooperation agreements have been signed, all aiming to produce and export green hydrogen.
