The Partnership Between Harvard and Fundação Itaú Offers Free Course for Educators
If you are a teacher or educator and want to specialize in socioemotional skills, this is your chance! Harvard and Fundação Itaú have joined forces to launch the course “Socioemotional Strategies for Childhoods.” And the best part: it’s completely free!
The idea is to help educators understand and apply the SEL Kernels methodology, which uses games, playful activities, and routines as teaching tools.
The course is available on the platforms Escola Fundação Itaú and AVAMEC, from the Ministry of Education, and also promises a more advanced module at the beginning of next year.

Course Focused on Childhoods and International Scope
The course, called “Socioemotional Strategies for Childhoods,” provides a practical approach to teaching socioemotional skills.
Through playful activities, educators can transform the school environment, helping children develop important competencies such as empathy, self-control, and teamwork.
This method, known as SEL Kernels, has already been tested in various parts of the world, including countries like Australia, Canada, Lebanon, and Sierra Leone. In Brazil, the methodology has also gained local adaptations, being called Sementes in Paraty (RJ), and Caroço in Amazonas.
