Heineken Continues Investing In Sustainability And This Time Announced The Expansion Of Its Program Which Provides Renewable Energy For Homes, Generating A 20% Saving On The Electric Bill

Heineken is focusing on renewable energy and ESG, and announced the expansion of its recent clean energy project for residential homes. The program was developed last year and was initially intended only for bars and restaurants. The initiative is now available for homes and contributes to providing access to green generation sources, with no installation required. This solution from the company is part of the brand’s sustainability and culture platform, Green Your City. In addition to contributing to sustainability, the project also reduces consumption, generating savings on the electricity bills of many Brazilians.

The project started last year with a focus on three essential pillars: green energy, responsible consumption, and circular economy. With this new initiative, Heineken aims to go beyond internal processes and promote this transition throughout the supply chain, now reaching consumers.

In addition to raising consumer awareness and contributing to the global cause, Heineken’s project also provides benefits to participants with direct discounts of up to 20% on electricity bills. It is worth noting that this percentage may vary from region to region.

The company’s renewable energy initiatives began in December 2020 when the company announced it would use 100% renewable energy in its production and bottling processes at its breweries in Araraquara (SP), Ponta Grossa (PR), Alagoinhas (BA), and by next year, in Jacareí (SP).

According to Heineken’s Director in Brazil, Gabriel D’Angelo Diaz, distributed generation is already a reality in the United States and Europe, where consumers can choose renewable energy supply options. In Brazil, this model is becoming increasingly robust, and the company is pleased to be able, alongside partners, to actively facilitate this pioneering movement of renewable energy.

How To Participate In The Project And Reduce Your Electricity Bill?

Those interested in participating in Heineken’s project should access the company’s platform and complete a fully digital registration using a driver’s license or ID and a photo or copy of their electricity bill. Participation is completely free with no fees or commitments.

To be eligible for the electricity bill benefit, users must prove they have an average monthly value equal to or greater than R$ 200 on their electricity bill. After joining Heineken’s project, the estimated time for conversion and renewable energy supply is 120 days.

Heineken’s Renewable Energy Project Will Expand In The 2nd Half Of 2022

The project is operationalized in partnership with regional certified renewable energy generators, and its availability is being rolled out gradually in Brazil.

Currently, the service is present in states such as Minas Gerais, Paraná, Santa Catarina, Goiás, Distrito Federal, Rio Grande do Sul, and São Paulo. For other states, Heineken estimates that the renewable energy service will be available between the second half of this year and the first half of next year. However, the company states that it is possible to make a pre-registration on the project website.

Last year, the project was implemented with the company’s partner restaurants and bars. According to Heineken, the goal is to reach 50% of sales points in 19 capitals in Brazil by the next decade. According to the sustainability manager of the Heineken group in Brazil, Ornella Vilardo, the company believes this project can foster individual actions that contribute to the transformation of cleaner cities.
