During The Last Sunday, August 21, Click Petróleo e Gás, CPG, Conducted A Survey To Understand The Prices Being Charged For Gasoline In The State Of Santa Catarina (SC) And Discovered That, After The Price Reduction By Petrobras, There Was A Significant Drop For Consumers.

Some cities located on the coast of Santa Catarina (SC) already have the price of a liter of gasoline below R$ 5, ranging between R$ 4.90 and R$ 4.99, one of them is Penha, which can be found heading north, Paraná (PR). Meanwhile, cities in the Central East have a varied price of around R$ 5.20 per liter. The price reduction occurred after the announcement that Petrobras would be making a new adjustment in August for “internal price control”.   Diesel, however, remains expensive and has a high price, mainly affecting truck drivers who need to fuel their trucks. The price of diesel also varies depending on the region being visited. For example, in Brusque, Santa Catarina (SC), the price of a liter of diesel is around R$ 7.40.

Fuel Adjustment By Petrobras Reached Almost 5% And Impacted Consumers In The State Of Santa Catarina (SC)

The adjustment by Petrobras reached almost 5% and directly impacted the prices being charged by gas stations to residents of the state of Santa Catarina (SC), going from R$ 3.71 to R$ 3.53 (R$ 0.18 less per liter).

Some analysts argue that this price drop is due to the elections, which are scheduled to take place in October this year, featuring an intense competition between right and left parties, including the former president of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who will compete with the current president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro

According to Petrobras, the adjustment happened only internally and on a national scale, as they are trying not to pass on the cost of gasoline and diesel to the final consumer. The increase, according to the state-owned company, seen over the last two years, was due to the exponentially rising prices of crude oil, optimized due to the war that occurred between Russia and Ukraine.

The war between Russia and Ukraine caused the prices of crude oil, as well as other commodities, such as lithium, to skyrocket, impacting global inflation and contributing to the IPCA rates in Brazil being around double digits, despite showing improvements in recent months, such as the largest deflation seen since 1998, even before the Workers’ Party, PT, governed the country.

Meanwhile, Paraná (PR), Neighboring State Of Santa Catarina (SC), Presents Gasoline Flirting With R$ 6

Meanwhile, the state of Paraná (PR), neighboring Santa Catarina (SC), has gasoline prices flirting with R$ 6 per liter, especially in cities that are part of, or close to, the border with the catarinenses. Last Sunday (21), CPG visited the city of Pontal do Paraná (PR) and some neighboring cities, including those related to Ilha do Mel, and many gas stations were charging around R$ 5.90.  In other words, paranaenses have a difference of over R$ 1 per liter of gasoline compared to catarinenses, and this is mainly estimated to occur due to the higher ICMS rates charged on gas stations.
