Good News for Those Searching for Jobs Outside Brazil: The Netherlands Is Offering Thousands of Job Openings in Diverse Areas Including Health, Commerce, and Services.

The demand for labor in European countries is concerning. In fact, there are many professionals missing in the Netherlands, and in 2023, the European country had an average of 424,000 vacancies. Furthermore, this is the second highest annual figure recorded, still with 21,000 vacancies fewer than in the record year (2022). Therefore, those who are looking for job opportunities outside Brazil and wish to work in the European country should check the list of sectors with the most opportunities.

Areas with the Most Job Openings in the Netherlands for Brazilians Dreaming of Working Abroad

The number of vacancies in the Netherlands is highest in commerce, followed by business services and the health sector. Specifically, there are 82,000 in commerce, 70,000 in services, and 65,000 vacancies in health, respectively. These three sectors together account for half of the total job opportunities in the Netherlands in 2023. Additionally, of all the vacancies in the last year, 58% are employed in large companies with more than 100 employees.

This means that these large companies had an average of 29 vacancies outside Brazil per company. See below the list of professional sectors with the most vacancies in the Netherlands:

  • Real Estate Rental and Sale;
  • Financial Services;
  • Commerce;

  • Logistics, Transport, and Storage;

  • HORECA Sector (Hotels, Restaurants, and Cafés);
  • Information and Communication.

The number of vacancies outside Brazil in the European country that arise or are filled throughout the year is significantly higher than the average. Thus, in the last year, the country generated 1,432,000 vacancies and filled 1,462,000 opportunities.

How to Apply for Jobs in the Netherlands?

In 2023, the province of Flevoland has the highest number of unemployed for each vacancy, with the lowest number in Zeeland. This means that the job market is relatively more restrictive in Zeeland, with 154 vacancies open for every 100 unemployed.

Thus, the majority of vacancies in 2023 were in Zuid-Holland (90,000) and Noord-Holland (80,000). In contrast, there were only 9,000 vacancies in the provinces of Flevoland and Zeeland. Among the provinces with the most vacancies outside Brazil are:

  • Limburg;
  • Zuid-Holland;
  • Groningen;
  • Noord-Holland;
  • Drenthe;
  • Gelderland;
  • Noord-Brabant;
  • Zeeland;
  • Overijssel;
  • Flevoland;
  • Fryslân;
  • Utrecht.

Netherlands Has 2.3 Million Companies

The number of companies in the Netherlands has doubled in 15 years. As a result, the Netherlands has 2.3 million companies at the beginning of 2024. However, 4 out of 5 cases refer to individuals, while the remaining refer to legal entities. Furthermore, by 2023, 256,000 companies were established in the European country.

However, only 8,000 companies employ at least one hundred people, expressed in full-time jobs (ETI). However, these large companies represent 62% of all jobs in the Netherlands held by the country’s employees.

Finally, business services have the most companies (596,000), followed by commerce (292,000 companies), construction (267,000), culture, recreation, and other services (264,000), and health (237,000). In contrast, public administration has only 900 institutions.
