Honda Civic LXR 2.0: The mid-size sedan that outperforms the Kwid in terms of price, performance and comfort!
The Honda Civic LXR 2.0 is a very reliable, spacious and comfortable car, ideal for those looking for a robust mid-size sedan. Despite consuming a little more, it delivers great performance and long-lasting mechanics.

With a price similar to the Renault Kwid, the Honda Civic LXR 2.0 offers a 2.0 horsepower 155 engine, luxurious interior space, and Japanese reliability that spans generations. Is it worth investing in?

If you're looking for a used car that combines robustness, performance and a touch of sophistication, the Honda Civic LXR 2.0 could be the ideal choice. Even with more than 10 years on the road, it still stands out as one of the most desired mid-size sedans in Brazil. Want to know why the Civic is a much more interesting alternative than the Kwid? Let's explore every detail!

Why is the Honda Civic LXR 2.0 so desirable?

The Honda Civic LXR 2.0 is part of the ninth generation of the model, launched in 2012 and discontinued in 2016. Although it was met with some initial criticism — mainly for its finish and rear design — it quickly gained its place in the market.

The recipe for success lies in its robust mechanics, with a naturally aspirated 2.0 engine and an independent suspension that provides stability on curves. It is no wonder that it is known as a “war tank”: it can run for years without presenting major problems, as long as it receives proper maintenance.

Price: Is the Civic 2.0 LXR worth investing in?

Surprisingly, the Honda Civic LXR 2.0, model year 2014, can be found in the range of R$ 67 thousand in the Fipe table. For comparison purposes, the Renault Kwid, considered one of the cheapest new cars on the market, starts at similar prices.

While the Kwid is a subcompact car aimed at economy, the Civic is a midsize sedan with superior finishes, remarkable performance and space for the family. In other words, you pay the same price, but get much more car.

Positive points of the Honda Civic LXR 2.0

With a 2.0 flex engine with up to 155 horsepower on ethanol, the Civic LXR delivers quick responses and an engaging driving experience. It also comes with a five-speed automatic transmission, which, despite not being a CVT, ensures smooth shifting and reliable behavior.

Even more than a decade after its launch, the Civic LXR still attracts attention on the streets. Its lines are elegant and robust, with details that have aged very well.

Its spacious interior comfortably accommodates five occupants. The 449-liter trunk is more than enough for travel or daily use.

The LXR version already comes equipped with electric steering, digital air conditioning, integrated sound system and rear camera, offering a modern driving experience.

Defects and limitations

If fuel economy is a priority, the Honda Civic LXR may not be the best option. In the city, it gets about 6,5 km/l on ethanol and 9,2 km/l on gasoline, according to Inmetro. On the highway, the numbers improve, but still lag behind more modern competitors.

Although the independent suspension provides comfort and stability, it is common to find Civics of this generation with negative camber problems in the rear wheels. Maintenance requires attention and can be a bit expensive.

Compared to the previous model (eighth generation), the Civic LXR has been criticized for its excessive use of hard plastics in the interior. Although the design is pleasant, the feel does not match the standard expected for the category.

Is the Honda Civic LXR 2.0 for you?

If you're looking for a used car that offers comfort, performance, and robustness, the Honda Civic LXR 2.0 is an excellent choice. It's not the most economical and requires attention to maintenance, but it makes up for it with reliability and a driving experience that few in the category can offer.

In the clash with the Renault Kwid, the Civic is the clear winner in terms of overall quality, even though it is an older model. So, if you value driving pleasure and don't mind higher mileage, the Civic LXR is a safe bet. After all, as they say, anyone who drives a Civic is unlikely to change to another car!
