With High Investment in the Assembly Line in Manaus, Electric Motorcycles Will Also Gain Innovative Batteries, with System Being Developed in Brazil by CBMM.
Horwin, a manufacturer of electric motorcycles from China that has been operating in Brazil since 2021, announced on Thursday (7) that it is making a significant investment to soon inaugurate its new assembly line in Manaus, in the Amazon. With an initial investment of R$ 100 million, it will now be possible to create an exclusive assembly line, under CKD regime in Brazil, allowing the company to expand all its sales and marketing in the country. In addition to the significant investment, there is also lithium-ion battery technology with niobium in its composition, being developed by CBMM and Toshiba, in a partnership established with Horwin, which will enable the company to sell over 100,000 electric motorcycles in Brazil by mid-2024.
Horwin CR6 Will Be the Star of the Assembly Line in Manaus
According to data revealed about the Horwin timeline, the prototype with a battery containing niobium in its composition, already being developed in the country, will finally be presented in the first half of 2022.
One of the units of the Horwin CR6, which is equipped with a 6,200W motor and can reach up to 150 km of pure autonomy, will be the first electric motorcycle to receive the new niobium battery in this initial phase of development.

The main advantages announced regarding this lithium-ion battery with niobium in its composition relate to the recharging capacity, considered ultrafast, occurring in less than 10 minutes on a compatible charger, without degradation of the accumulator. Furthermore, a cell of this type provides much more safety and greater durability compared to traditional batteries.
Prices of Horwin Electric Motorcycles with Niobium Batteries
According to Horwin’s CEO in Brazil, Priscila Favero, the cost of electric motorcycles is expected to remain at the same price levels as current prices, even with the adoption of batteries containing niobium.
Thus, it is estimated that electric motorcycles will cost around R$ 43,000. But this is only possible due to the nationalization of the assembly of electric motorcycles, among other cost reductions inherent to the production process.
