The new generation of the HB20 will be launched in Brazil in 2026, already as the 2027 line, marking a strategic shift for Hyundai. The HB20S sedan will be discontinued, and in its place, the brand will launch a brand new compact crossover, positioned below the Creta and aimed at consumers seeking robustness, connectivity, and efficiency.
Even at the end of its cycle, the HB20 hatch remains one of the best-selling cars in the country, with 9,760 units sold in June 2024. Hyundai wants to take advantage of this momentum and adapt the model to the new behavior of the Brazilian market.
New Generation Of The HB20 Debuts With Internal Improvements And A Focus On Technology
The new generation of the HB20 will maintain 1.0 naturally aspirated and 1.0 turbo flex engine options, with up to 120 horsepower. The changes will mainly come in terms of internal space, especially in the rear seat, which was criticized in previous versions.

Hyundai Retires The HB20S And Launches A New National Crossover
With the new generation of the HB20, Hyundai will also end production of the HB20S (sedan). In its place, a compact crossover will be launched, built on the same platform as the HB20, but with a more robust appearance, higher suspension, and a higher driving position.
This new model will be produced in Piracicaba (SP) and will compete in the market with Fiat Pulse, VW Nivus, Renault Kardian, and other entry-level compact SUVs, a segment that is on the rise in Brazil.
This decision reflects a clear shift in Brazilian preferences, as consumers are replacing compact sedans with vehicles that have an adventurous style and more versatility for everyday use.
