A Hyundai took a bold step in the global electric car market by presenting the Ioniq 9, a large SUV that combines advanced technology, futuristic design, and a level of comfort that impresses even the most experienced automotive journalists.
The information was released by “Motor1.com”, with complete details of the model presented after an exclusive test drive conducted in São Paulo, involving international experts and judges from global automotive awards.
Right from the start, the Ioniq 9 grabs attention not only for its size but mainly for its proposal: to offer an experience similar to a “living room on wheels,” a concept directly inspired by the Hyundai Seven prototype presented in 2021.

Orenburg has rivers, roads, and industrial areas covered in snow in a geometric pattern visible from space, and a NASA image reveals how the winter lasting up to 5 months and temperatures below −30 °C transform the city of over 500,000 inhabitants into an almost continuous white map.
Additionally, the model arrives as the most sophisticated in the brand’s electric line, consolidating Hyundai’s strategy to compete with premium vehicles on the international stage.
Futuristic design, giant dimensions, and impressive interior space concept
First of all, it is impossible to ignore the design of the Ioniq 9. The model mixes characteristics of an SUV, minivan, and even elements reminiscent of 1970s science fiction cars, like those in the series “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century” and “Galactica.”
According to Simon Loasby, head of design at Hyundai, the concept follows the idea of “Bigger on the inside,” meaning it is larger inside than it appears outside. Still, the vehicle is far from small.
The Ioniq 9 measures an impressive 5.06 meters in length and weighs between 2.5 and 2.7 tons, depending on the version.
Moreover, the model features a silhouette called Aerosthetic, which contributes to an aerodynamic coefficient of just 0.259, an extremely efficient number for a car of this size.
Another highlight is the LED visual signature with a Parametric Pixel pattern, composed of small luminous squares that reinforce the futuristic identity of the Ioniq line.
Inside, the space is even more surprising. The 3.13-meter wheelbase allows for a spacious cabin, with three rows of seats and configurations for six or seven passengers.
In the six-seat version, for example, the middle seats can rotate 180°, creating a true social environment inside the car.
Even with all seats occupied, the trunk maintains a capacity of 620 liters, something rare in vehicles of this segment.
Powerful engine, high range, and ultra-fast charging
In terms of performance, the Hyundai Ioniq 9 also stands out. The platform used is the E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform), the same as the Ioniq 5 and 6 models, but maximized to the fullest.
The entry-level version features a rear motor with 218 hp and 35.7 kgfm of torque. The intermediate and higher versions come with two motors, one on each axle, with all-wheel drive.
The tested unit had 313 hp and 61.7 kgfm of torque, while the top-of-the-line AWD Performance version reaches an impressive 435 hp and 71.4 kgfm.
Additionally, all versions use a 110.3 kWh battery, capable of delivering a range between 501 km and 620 km on the WLTP standard, depending on the configuration.
Another relevant point is the charging. At fast chargers of 350 kW, the vehicle can go from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes, significantly reducing range anxiety.
In terms of performance, the model does not disappoint either. The 313 hp AWD version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, showing that comfort and performance go hand in hand.
Technological interior, extreme comfort, and silent driving experience
Upon entering the Ioniq 9, the feeling is of being in a premium environment. The dashboard consists of two curved 12.3-inch screens, fully integrated and high definition.
Moreover, the car retains physical buttons for essential functions, which enhances usability in daily life.
Another differentiator is the level of comfort. The model features:
- Three-layer laminated glass
- Sound-absorbing tires
- Active noise cancellation system
As a result, the silence on board is impressive. During the test of approximately 60 km, with 15% in urban areas and 85% on highways, the recorded consumption was 23 kWh/100 km (4.35 km/kWh).
Additionally, the car offers features such as:
- Sliding center console with 20 cm adjustment
- Induction charger
- UV sterilizer for cell phone
- 3D camera system
- Head-up display integrated with GPS
Another curious detail is the automatic massage system in the driver’s seat, which can be activated while driving, further enhancing comfort on long trips.
High price and uncertain future in Brazil
Currently, the Hyundai Ioniq 9 is not available for sale in Brazil, and there is no official confirmation of its launch in the country.
In the United States, the model costs between US$ 64,000 and US$ 78,000, a price that is still 20% to 26% lower than direct competitors like the Volvo EX90, which can cost around R$ 850,000 in Brazil.
Even so, Hyundai brought units for display at the Auto Show, clearly showcasing its technological capability and global positioning.
Therefore, even though the launch in Brazil is not confirmed, the Ioniq 9 already serves as a reference for what to expect from the future of high-end electric mobility.
If this car were to arrive in Brazil today, would you dare to swap a traditional SUV for an electric one of this level?
