[supsystic-social-sharing id=’1′]Shell is licensing at Ibama the drilling of five wells in the pre-salt, two in the South Gato do Mato block, in the Santos Basin, and three in the Alto de Cabo Frio Oeste block, Santos Basin. The oil company signed the production sharing contracts for the areas last week and started the licensing processes the following day. The company intends to begin drilling campaigns in January 2019.
In the Alto de Cabo Frio Oeste block, Shell is licensing the drilling of up to three exploratory wells. It will use a dynamically positioned drillship and two PSV vessels, with an estimated 15 monthly trips. The logistics base for primary support has not yet been defined, but it will be located in the city of Rio de Janeiro or Niterói (RJ). The company may use the Porto do Forno, in Arraial do Cabo (RJ); the Porto do Açu, in São João da Barra (RJ); or the Porto de Vitória (ES) for secondary support.
Aerial support will be conducted at Jacarepaguá airport, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), with the possibility of occasional use of the airports in Cabo Frio, Macaé, or Campos. The campaign in the Alto de Cabo Frio Oeste block is expected to start in April 2019 and last for 120 days.

In the South Gato do Mato block, in the Santos Basin, which is a continuation to the south of the BM-S-54 block, two wells are being licensed with the main objective of acquiring additional information about the reservoir discovered in BM-S-54. A formation test is also planned. The logistics base for primary support of the activity has not yet been defined, but – just like in the Alto de Cabo Frio Oeste campaign – it will be based in Rio de Janeiro or Niterói (RJ). The drilling campaign is expected to start in January 2019 and last for 150 days. Source E & P Brasil
