State Program Offers Free Trips with Accommodation, Meals, and Tours for Seniors, Expanding Access to Tourism in São Paulo and Foreseeing Assistance for Up to 3,000 People by 2026, with Registrations Made by Municipalities and Social Organizations.
People aged 60 or older can participate in free tourist itineraries across the state of São Paulo in a state government program that includes accommodation, meals, and tours, with plans to assist up to 3,000 travelers by June 2026, the São Paulo government announced this Monday (14).
The initiative, called Turismo60+, opens registrations through municipalities and social organizations, which form the groups and handle the registration.
In the initial phase, the announced itineraries include Praia Grande, Ubatuba, Serra Negra, Aparecida, and Cunha, as well as visits to the capital city of São Paulo.

What Is Turismo60+ and What Is Included in the Trips
Turismo60+ was launched by the São Paulo State Secretariat for Tourism and Travel in partnership with the São Paulo Legislative Assembly and with municipalities that are tourist destinations.
The idea is to offer group trips for elderly people, prioritizing those who have had fewer opportunities to visit São Paulo destinations.
According to information released by the government, the program’s package covers accommodation, meals, tours, and travel insurance, as well as the assistance of a tour guide.
Participants also receive a travel kit with items such as a t-shirt, water bottle, and visor, as per the official project description.
The trips, according to the Secretariat for Tourism and Travel, can last up to four days.
The format is a tour, with a set schedule and organized transportation to facilitate group supervision and adherence to the itinerary.
Tourist Destinations Planned for the Initial Phase of the Program

At the launch, the list of cities released includes Praia Grande and Ubatuba, on the coast, Serra Negra, in the interior, and the municipalities of Aparecida and Cunha, in the Paraíba Valley.
The selection encompasses different travel profiles, with options for beaches, tourist resorts, and religious and cultural destinations.
Although the program also mentions the capital of São Paulo as part of the planned visits, the itineraries and dates depend on the organization of the groups and the operational calendar set up based on the registrations made by the municipalities and participating entities.
How Many People Should Be Served by Turismo60+ by 2026
The announced goal is to serve up to 3,000 elderly people with the itineraries by June 2026.
The state government claims that the initiative seeks to increase the circulation of visitors and give visibility to regional attractions at a time when tourism aimed at senior citizens has been gaining traction.
In the first phase of trips mentioned in the official release, held in December 2025, 203 travelers from cities such as Tabapuã, Santa Lúcia, Presidente Epitácio, and Estiva Gerbi, as well as the capital of São Paulo, visited destinations like Águas de Lindóia, Serra Negra, Mongaguá, and Socorro.
The Secretariat for Tourism and Travel uses this initial balance as a reference to indicate the expansion of groups throughout 2026.
Rules for Forming Groups and Participation Criteria

Registrations are not accepted individually, and this is one of the main rules of Turismo60+.
Municipalities and social organizations are responsible for gathering interested parties, organizing documentation, and registering the group in the program’s system.
The groups need to consist of 25 to 45 people.
A responsible person must also accompany the group throughout the entire trip.
The published regulations stipulate that up to 20% of the spots may be occupied by responsible persons and companions linked to the group’s organization.
Another important point is that transportation is not included in the state package.
The required counterpart is that transportation to the destination must be provided by the participating municipality or the group itself, according to the guidance published by the Secretariat for Tourism and Travel and reiterated in communications from municipalities that joined the project.
Silver Generation Tourism and Its Impact on the Sector
The launch of Turismo60+ was presented by the São Paulo government as part of a strategy to enhance the tourism sector, specifically targeting the elderly audience.
In the official release, the Secretariat for Tourism and Travel points out that travelers over the age of 60 represent a significant segment of the market and are expected to grow in the coming decades.
The Secretariat states that in Brazil, the 60+ demographic already accounts for 15% of domestic tourists and 10% of international tourists.

In the same material, the government mentions projections associated with population aging and attributes to the World Health Organization the estimate that the elderly population is expected to double by 2050.
Without delving into projections beyond what was disclosed, the government’s perspective is that programs aimed at the elderly can combine inclusion and regional economic stimulus, especially in tourist cities that rely on visitor flow at different times of the year.
How to Register for Turismo60+
To participate, the suggested route is to contact the city hall of the town or a local social organization that organizes groups of seniors.
Turismo60+ does not accept direct requests from individuals, and the entire process must be carried out by a responsible institution.
After that, the entity registers the group on the official program website and gathers the required information.
The guidance is to remember that transportation to the destination must be guaranteed by the municipality or by the participating group.
