The Federal Institute of Santa Catarina (IFSC), in partnership with the Brazilian Navy, is accepting applications for free courses in professional fishing and food handling. Applications are open until October 9.

If you are looking for professional qualification in specific areas at no cost, IFSC and the Brazilian Navy are offering a great opportunity. With open positions until October 9, the free courses offered are aimed at those who wish to work in the fishing sector or need training to work with food handling. The training is essential for those already in the market or looking to enter these fields, with recognized certification and partnerships with renowned institutions.

In addition to being an excellent chance for qualification, the Aquatic Professionals – Professional Fisher (CFAQ-III C/M) course is conducted in conjunction with the Brazilian Navy and has a selection process that includes a physical test. The food handling training course is offered online (EaD), making it easier for those who need to balance their studies with daily routines.

IF and Brazilian Navy: More Than Courses, An Opportunity

The Aquatic Professionals – Professional Fisher course is ideal for those who wish to qualify in the fishing field and professionalize. There are a total of 60 spots available for the professional qualification course, which will be held in-person between October and December, in the afternoon. The content focuses on developing the necessary skills to work as a Professional Fisher, with level 1 certification.

For those wishing to work with food, the online (EaD) “Training for Food Handlers” course offers training that is required by the Sanitary Surveillance, essential for those working in restaurants, bakeries, and bars. The course is entirely online and takes place during November, allowing flexibility for participants.

  • Training for Food Handlers (EaD)

    • Objective: To train professionals to adopt good hygiene practices in food preparation, meeting the requirements of the Sanitary Surveillance.

These courses are an excellent opportunity to professionalize in specific areas that require certification for practice.

How the Selection Process Works

To apply for the courses, candidates must meet the specific requirements for each course. For the Aquatic Professionals – Professional Fisher course, in addition to being a natural-born or naturalized Brazilian and over 18 years old, it is necessary to have completed Elementary School I (1st to 6th grade). Another requirement is passing the physical test, which will be held on October 29, at Praia da Armação, in Penha. The test consists of swimming 25 meters and performing a buoyancy test for 10 minutes without assistance.

For the Training for Food Handlers course, the requirements are simpler: just be literate and have internet access. The course is divided into six modules that cover topics such as food contamination, hygiene and sanitary care in the workplace, pest control, and proper food handling.

Both courses guarantee certification upon completion, and students who meet the minimum requirements will be qualified to work in their respective fields.

Where to Register

Applications for the free courses offered by IF and the Brazilian Navy must be made through the IFSC enrollment system. The process is entirely online, and interested parties can apply until October 9. For more information and to register, visit the official IFSC website at: https://www.ifsc.edu.br.
