The Federal Institute of Maranhão (IFMA) has opened applications for the 2026 selection process, offering over 5,000 slots in free technical courses in integrated, concurrent and subsequent modalities.
The selection, aimed at high school students and graduates, will be conducted through a written exam on November 23, 2025, with applications open until October 20.

The notice provides three modalities: integrated, concurrent and subsequent to high school.
In the integrated modality, students complete both high school and technical training together.
In the concurrent modality, students attend technical courses while studying high school at another school.
In the subsequent modality, which is aimed at those who have already completed high school.
The courses vary by campus, with options including Administration, Computer Science, Industrial Automation, Environmental Management, Electromechanics, Agriculture, Civil Engineering, Chemistry, Occupational Safety, Gastronomy, and Graphic Design.
Who Can Participate in the Free Technical Courses at the Federal Institute?
For each of the modalities of the free technical courses at the Federal Institute, there are specific requirements:
- Integrated: must have completed elementary school.
- Concurrent: must be enrolled in high school.
- Subsequent: must have completed high school.
The notice also guarantees reserved slots for students from public schools, low-income backgrounds, Black, Brown, Indigenous, Quilombola individuals, and people with disabilities.
Applications, Fee, and Selection
Applications will be made exclusively online, through the official website of the Federal Institute, until October 20, 2025.
The application fee is R$ 30.00 for those who are not eligible for exemption.
The written exam is scheduled for November 23, 2025, with 30 questions and a duration of 3 hours.
The final result will be published on January 6, 2026.
Selection, Exemption, and Schedule
Candidates registered in the Federal Government CadÚnico can request exemption from the fee between August 20 and September 15, 2025.
The exemption request requires NIS or CPF, which will be verified in federal databases.
After the exemption, those who still wish to participate must register between September 18 and October 20, with payment of the charge until October 21.
Slots and Geographic Coverage
In total, over 5,000 slots are offered, distributed among the 28 campuses of the Federal Institute in 26 cities.
Each campus will have specific free technical courses and different combinations of modalities, according to local demand.
The notice also defines lists of homologation, publication of exam locations, and deadlines for enrollment of those approved.

The Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Maranhão (IFMA) was established on December 29, 2008, by Law No. 11,892, resulting from the merger of the former CEFET-MA with the Federal Agricultural Schools of Codó, São Luís, and São Raimundo das Mangabeiras.
