Engineers from IHM Stefanini Will Travel to France to Acquire Expertise and Work on the Brazilian Submarine Project PROSUB, Repositioning the National Shipbuilding Industry in This Type of Project
IHM Stefanini announced its participation in the construction of the first Brazilian nuclear submarine, the SN Álvaro Alberto. The project is part of the Submarine Development Program (PROSUB), established in 2008 through a technology transfer agreement between Brazil and France.
The project will be coordinated by Naval Group, a world reference in naval defense. IHM Stefanini was chosen from over 70 companies through rigorous evaluations and audits that, in addition to technical competence, also considered the ability to manage high-complexity projects.

The project includes the design of the IPMS (Integrated Platform Management System), supply of panels, configuration of PLCs, networks, and cybersecurity systems. A group of engineers from IHM Stefanini will receive training for four months in France, at the excellence center for naval equipment of Naval Group.

PROSUB
PROSUB plans the construction of four conventionally powered (Diesel-electric) submarines and one Nuclear-powered submarine, the first of its kind to be manufactured in Brazil.
The Humaitá is the second of the four and is expected to be ready by the end of 2022.
The first submarine of the program was launched into the sea on December 14 of last year and was named Riachuelo (S40) and its sea trial is scheduled for this year.
The sea trial for the Humaitá (S-41) is planned for 2020, the Tonelero (S42) in 2021, and the Angostura (S43) in 2022. Source: IHM Stefanini
