During the year 2020, electric cars increased their share in the automotive market as a whole. In July, the National Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea) conducted a study on the future of the electric and hybrid sector in Brazil. According to the entity’s research, there are three major scenarios possible for Brazil in the next 15 years.
Currently, electric car models represent only 2% of the mix of light vehicle sales. According to the study, following the current growth logic, by the year 2030 these vehicle models will reach between 12% and 22%, depending on the projected scenarios.
For the year 2035, the projection rises to between 32% and 62%. Market launches are already adapting to the new reality and presenting lines with electrified and hybrid versions, such as the new Corolla Cross, which has a top-of-the-line version with a hybrid engine, and also with the recent launch from the South Korean company Kia, the Stonic, which arrived in the Brazilian market in a single version, also with hybrid engine.
