Brazil Defense Industry Exports Double in Two Years and Boost the Economy with Historic Financial Growth. See the Data.

Brazil Expands External Sales and Consolidates Financial Growth in the Sector

Brazil recorded one of the largest expansions of its defense industry, reaching a new record of exports in 2025, according to the Ministry of Defense.

The agency confirmed that export sale authorizations reached US$ 3.1 billion, boosting the economy and reinforcing the strategic weight of the sector.

Furthermore, the government attributes the progress to the joint work with companies, funding institutions, and international actions taken throughout the year, which explains why the country is experiencing such rapid and unprecedented financial growth.

The result represents a growth of 74% in just one year and more than double the value recorded in 2023. Thus, the accumulated value between 2023 and 2025 indicates an expansion of approximately 114%, consolidating the Defense Industrial Base (BID) as one of the most competitive forces in the global market.

Brazilian Defense Industry Expands International Presence

The Brazilian industry has gained strength abroad and, with that, expanded its operations to around 140 countries, with a focus on Germany, Bulgaria, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, and Portugal.

Currently, approximately 80 companies export products and services directly related to the sector, which demonstrates, therefore, the continuous expansion of this production chain.

The segment includes manufacturers of aircraft, vessels, armored vehicles, ammunition, radars, secure communication systems, and cyber solutions.

In addition, according to the Ministry of Defense, this industry represents 3.49% of GDP and generates nearly 3 million jobs, which reinforces, thus, its importance to the national economy and Brazil’s competitiveness in the international market.

Government Seeks to Enhance Competitiveness and Strengthen Companies

The Ministry of Defense claims to be continuously working to strengthen the productive capacity of Brazilian companies through the Defense Products Secretariat (Seprod).

Secretary Heraldo Luiz Rodrigues explained that the actions aim to “support the national industry and strengthen its presence in the global market,” expanding the international reach of exports and ensuring sustainable growth.

Commercial Promotion Boosts Exports and Financial Growth

According to the ministry, part of the strong increase in exports results from coordinated actions by the Commercial Promotion Department (Depcom). Brazil intensified its presence at international fairs, bilateral meetings, and strategic events.

Among the initiatives in 2025, the highlights include:

  • Defense Industry Dialogues with Turkey and Jordan.
  • Robust participation in the LAAD Defence & Security in Rio de Janeiro.
  • Holding the Brazilian Defense Day for embassies, gathering 50 countries and 47 Brazilian companies.

These actions reinforced Brazil’s position in the global arena and directly contributed to the financial growth experienced by the sector.

Regulation and Accreditation Ensure Expansion

The Defense Products Department (Deprod) acts in the regulation and accreditation of companies and products. Today, Brazil has 307 accredited companies and 2,219 classified products.

Only in 2025, 417 new products and 62 new companies were added to the Defense Industrial Base.

The analyses involve periodic technical visits to verify production capabilities, which ensures safety and quality for the exports.

Financing and Partnerships Strengthen the Economy

The Defense Financing and Economy Department (Depfin) expanded partnerships with public and private institutions. In 2025, it signed an agreement with the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development (ABDI) to increase the index of nationalization of goods and services and enhance the relevance of the industry in the context of Brazilian exports.

This strategy contributes to strengthening the economy and increases the sector’s potential for innovation.

Research, Innovation, and Technology Accelerate Growth

The Department of Science, Technology, and Innovation (Decti) leads actions to transform scientific projects into globally competitive products.

In the last five years, approximately 140 projects have been added to the innovation portfolio, mobilizing almost R$ 700 million and thus creating a favorable environment for the country’s technological advancement.

In addition, another 34 projects received support from Finep and CNPq, totaling R$ 1.1 billion in investments that enhance the sector’s capacity for innovation. In this way, the technological development cycle strengthens and directly contributes to the growth of the industry.

In 2025, two seminars brought together government, academia, and industry to discuss advanced technologies and strategies to enhance the competitiveness of the national industry.

With this, these efforts consolidate Brazil’s role in the global market and significantly expand the positive impact of exports on the economy.
