The Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF) announced the opening of a supplementary selection process for free online undergraduate courses (EAD) starting in 2024. A total of 379 spots are available for free Bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Physical Education, and Pedagogy. The spots are distributed across the face-to-face support centers of the Open University of Brazil (UAB), allowing students to receive high-quality training with the flexibility of distance learning.
Objective of the Free Courses and Workload
The main objective of the free courses offered is to train future professionals in the field of education, providing a solid pedagogical and technical foundation. All courses are conducted in the distance learning format (EAD), with mandatory in-person support at some centers. The workload and content vary depending on the chosen course, including activities such as discussion forums, virtual seminars, and in-person assessments. The proposal is to balance theory and practice, preparing students for the job market.

A total of 379 spots are being made available, distributed among UAB centers in Minas Gerais, such as Andrelândia, Barão de Cocais, Barroso, Bicas, Boa Esperança, Conselheiro Lafaiete, Durandé, among others. Selection Processes for Free and Online Courses (EAD)
The selection process will be based on the average grades of the Portuguese Language and Mathematics subjects in High School, verified through the academic record. Additionally, 20% of the spots are reserved for public network teachers who do not have a higher education degree or do not work in their area of training. These candidates must prove their connection with the public network and register on the Freire Platform.
Requirements for Enrollment
To participate in the selection process, candidates must have completed High School. Public education teachers currently working can also compete for specific spots for teachers. It is important to have access to the internet and a computer to follow the EAD activities, in addition to attending the mandatory in-person meetings at the chosen centers.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics: 100 spots
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry: 60 spots
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physics: 40 spots
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education: 59 spots
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pedagogy: 70 spots
Selection Process Schedule
Enrollment for the free online (EAD) undergraduate courses will be open from 3 PM on October 7, 2024, until 6 PM on October 30, 2024. The preliminary results will be announced on November 21, 2024, with the final results on November 26, 2024. The dates for online pre-enrollment will be published on the official website of the Federal University UFJF.
