ABOUT GNA AÇÚ
GNA – Natural Gas Açu – is a joint venture formed by Prumo Logística, BP, and Siemens dedicated to the development, implementation, and operation of structuring and sustainable energy and gas projects.
Once completed, it will be the largest natural gas thermoelectric park in Latin America, located in the Port of Açu, one of Brazil’s main port complexes, which offers a range of logistical solutions for the Brazilian oil and gas market.
The project, in its current phase, includes the implementation of two thermoelectric plants powered by natural gas (GNA I and GNA II), with a capacity to generate 3 GW of firm energy for Brazil. Together, the two thermal plants will generate enough energy to supply about 14 million households. In addition, the project includes the implementation of a regasification terminal for LNG of 21 MM m³/d.
In a second phase, GNA plans to expand its thermoelectric park, as well as create the necessary surrounding conditions for the attraction and monetization of offshore domestic gas.
GNA is strongly committed to Sustainability. All of the company’s actions are guided by ethics, social and environmental responsibility, safety, and local development. During the construction phase of the two thermoelectric plants, approximately 4,500 direct jobs and around 10,000 indirect jobs will be created, prioritizing local labor.
With job creation, economic dynamism, and adherence to high international sustainability standards, GNA contributes to the expansion of the gas and energy market and to economic development not only of the Northern Fluminense region but also of the State of Rio de Janeiro and the entire Country.
