Inmetro’s List Shows the Most Fuel-Efficient Flex Vehicles of the Year: Toyota Corolla Hybrid Leads with 18.5 Km/L in the City, While Renault Kwid, Onix Plus, and HB20 Surprise in the Ranking!

At the beginning of 2025, the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro) released the official list of the most fuel-efficient flex vehicles in the Brazilian market. The survey is part of the Brazilian Vehicle Labeling Program (PBEV), which assesses the energy efficiency of vehicles considering energy consumption in megajoules per kilometer (MJ/km) and kilometers per liter (km/l). This classification plays a crucial role for consumers as it allows them to choose vehicles that combine performance and efficiency, an increasingly relevant factor given fuel prices.

Among the highlights of the ranking, Toyota’s hybrid models continue to be a reference when it comes to efficiency. The Corolla and Corolla Cross, for example, have a highly optimized consumption rate, especially in urban traffic. In addition, other flex models demonstrate a great balance between technology and economy, providing good options for drivers who want to drive more while spending less.

How Does Inmetro Assess Vehicle Efficiency?

The Brazilian Vehicle Labeling Program (PBEV) follows a standardized methodology to measure the energy efficiency of cars. The tests are conducted under controlled conditions, ensuring that the numbers reflect the actual performance of vehicles in everyday use. The classification scale ranges from “A” to “E,” where category “A” represents the most efficient models and “E” the least economical. This detailed analysis helps consumers choose cars with lower fuel consumption and better cost-effectiveness.

The methodology used by Inmetro considers different factors such as the type of engine, the weight of the vehicle, and how energy is utilized during driving. The evaluation takes into account both highway and city consumption, providing a comprehensive view of each model’s performance. As a result, the data released serves as a reliable guide for those seeking a more economical vehicle.

The 5 Most Fuel-Efficient Flex Cars of 2025

Among the models analyzed by Inmetro, several vehicles stand out for offering excellent fuel consumption. One of the efficiency champions is the Toyota Corolla 1.8 Hybrid CVT, which achieves 18.5 km/l in the city when fueled with gasoline. This hybrid model combines the operation of an electric motor with a combustion engine, ensuring intelligent optimization of consumption, especially on urban routes where there are more stops and starts.

Another car worth noting is the Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8 Hybrid CVT, which also uses hybrid technology to save fuel. It reaches 17.7 km/l in the city on gasoline, making it a great option for those looking for an SUV with excellent performance and low consumption. These Toyota hybrid models have been establishing themselves as a reference in energy efficiency, offering not just fuel economy but also lower pollutant emissions.

The second most fuel-efficient flex vehicle in Inmetro's ranking in 2025 is the Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8 Hybrid CVT, which achieves 17.7 km/l in the city on gasoline. This hybrid SUV combines efficiency and performance, making it an excellent option for those looking for fuel savings.

Estes testes são feitos com o ar condicionado desligado. Seria necessário fazer o normal, ou seja, com o ar ligado pois é assim que funciona praticamente pra todos que têm ar condicionado.
