The Federal Institute of São Paulo (IFSP) has launched the Notice No. 166/2024 in partnership with MEC for the selection process of the free online (EAD) Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics. The program is aimed at licensed teachers in Exact Sciences who want to acquire a new qualification. A total of 200 spots are offered, distributed across six face-to-face campuses in the state of São Paulo.
The free online (EAD) course aims to train teachers to teach Mathematics in elementary and secondary education, strengthening pedagogical skills and providing interdisciplinary training at MEC.
With a total workload of 1,275 hours, distributed over four semesters, the course combines online activities and face-to-face meetings held on Saturdays at the campuses of the Federal Institute chosen by the candidates. The methodology includes theoretical classes, discussion forums, use of educational technologies, and pedagogical practices aligned with MEC.

Selection Process and Affirmative Actions
The selection criterion for the Federal Institute is based on the Academic Performance Index (CRA) of the candidates’ previous bachelor’s degree. Furthermore, 50% of the spots at each campus are reserved for candidates who completed their entire high school education in public schools, according to Law No. 12,711/2012. In compliance with MEC’s criteria, there are also specific spots for people with disabilities, quilombolas, indigenous individuals, and other groups covered by affirmative actions.
Requirements for Registration in the Free Online Course with MEC Certification
Applicants for the free online (EAD) course must hold a diploma or declaration of completion of a bachelor’s degree in Exact Sciences and demonstrate the CRA on a scale from 0 to 10. Internet access and availability to attend face-to-face meetings at the campuses are required. All documents must be submitted in PDF format at the time of registration, including diploma and academic transcript.

Registrations for the free online (EAD) course must be made through the official portal of the Federal Institute-IFSP (access here) until January 12, 2025. The registration fee is R$ 30.00, and there is a possibility of exemption for candidates who meet the notice criteria.
