Federal Institute Offers 2,086 Spots in Free Technical and Higher Education Courses in 14 Cities, with Registrations Open Until August 15.

This Sunday, (08/04), the Federal Institute of Pernambuco (IFPE) is offering over 2,000 spots in free courses for the second semester of 2024. The initiative includes a variety of technical and higher education courses, distributed across 14 cities in the state. Registrations are open until August 15 and can be made through the official IFPE website. This selection process aims to provide access to quality education for different student profiles, facilitating technical and higher training in various areas. With a completely online approach, IFPE aims to serve a broad and diverse audience, promoting accessible educational opportunities for all.

Available Spots at the Federal Institute

The spots are divided into three main categories:

  • Technical Courses in the Subsequent Modality: 1,479 spots are offered for those who have already completed high school.
  • Technical Courses Integrated with High School: 280 spots are available for students who have already completed elementary school.
  • Higher Education: 327 spots are offered.

The free technical and higher education courses are distributed among 14 campuses of the Federal Institute:

  • Vitória de Santo Antão: Subsequent technical courses.
  • Recife: Integrated technical courses with high school, subsequent technical courses, and higher education.
  • Paulista: Higher education courses.
  • Olinda: Subsequent technical courses.
  • Jaboatão dos Guararapes: Subsequent technical courses.
  • Ipojuca: Subsequent technical courses.
  • Igarassu: Subsequent technical courses.
  • Garanhuns: Subsequent technical courses and higher education.
  • Caruaru: Subsequent technical courses.
  • Cabo de Santo Agostinho: Higher education courses.
  • Belo Jardim: Subsequent technical courses and higher education.
  • Barreiros: Subsequent technical courses.
  • Afogados da Ingazeira: Higher education courses.
  • Abreu e Lima: Technical courses.

What Are the Technical and Higher Education Courses Offered?

The Federal Institute offers a wide range of free courses, distributed between integrated and subsequent modalities for technical and undergraduate studies.

Integrated Technical Courses: In Recife, technical courses are available in the areas of Civil Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Sanitation, and Occupational Safety, offered in morning, afternoon, and evening shifts, depending on demand. Each course at the Federal Institute offers 40 spots, divided among different quota categories and special needs.

Subsequent Technical Courses: For those who have already completed high school, options at the Federal Institute include:

  • Abreu e Lima: Nursing and Occupational Safety Technician, offered in full-time, afternoon, and evening shifts.
  • Barreiros: Hospitality Technician in the evening.
  • Belo Jardim: Courses in Agribusiness and Agroindustry, offered in morning and afternoon shifts.
  • Caruaru: Mechatronics and Civil Engineering Technician in the evening.
  • Garanhuns: Courses in Environmental Science and Electronics in the evening.
  • Ipojuca: Industrial Automation, Chemistry, and Occupational Safety Technician in the evening.
  • Igarassu: Logistics and Internet Computing Technician, offered in the morning.
  • Jaboatão dos Guararapes: Courses in Administration, Commerce, and Quality, available in afternoon and evening shifts.
  • Olinda: Visual Arts and Graphic Computing Technician, offered in morning and afternoon shifts.
  • Paulista: Administration Technician in the afternoon.
  • Vitória de Santo Antão: Courses in Agriculture, Agroindustry, and Animal Science in the afternoon.

Undergraduate Studies:

  • Afogados da Ingazeira: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science in the evening.
  • Belo Jardim: Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering in the morning.
  • Cabo de Santo Agostinho: Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental and Sanitary Engineering in the morning and Technology in Gastronomy in the afternoon.
  • Garanhuns: Technology in Systems Analysis and Development in the evening.
  • Ipojuca: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering in the evening.
  • Jaboatão dos Guararapes: Technology in Systems Analysis and Development in the evening.
  • Paulista: Technology in Systems Analysis and Development in the morning and Managerial Processes in the evening.

How Will the Federal Institute Conduct the Selection?

The selection process of the Federal Institute for the second semester of 2024 (2024.2) was officially announced on Thursday, August 1.

The selection will be conducted online, facilitating the participation of candidates throughout the state.

  • Integrated Technical Courses: The selection will be based on academic performance in Portuguese language and mathematics.
  • Subsequent Technical Courses: Candidates may use the scores obtained in the last five editions of the National High School Exam (Enem), from 2019 to 2023, in the areas of languages, codes, and their technologies and mathematics and its technologies.
  • Higher Education: The selection will be based on the overall Enem score, also from editions of 2019 to 2023.

60% of the spots at the Federal Institute are designated for candidates who completed elementary or high school in public schools.

Additionally, there are quotas for people with disabilities, Black, Brown, and Indigenous individuals, and for students from rural areas in courses focused on agriculture.

Important Dates

The registration period for the free technical and higher education courses runs from August 1 to August 15. During this time, candidates must fill out the registration form and submit the necessary documents on the IFPE website.

  • Preliminary Registration List: Will be published on August 19.
  • Data Correction: If there are errors in the registration, candidates will be able to correct the information and attach new documents on August 20 and 21.
  • Final Registration List: Will be published on September 2.
  • Enrollment: Starts on September 3.
