Australian Multinational Enegix Energy To Make Billion-Dollar Investment in the Northeast! Company Will Build the World’s Largest Green Hydrogen Plant in Ceará and Thousands of Jobs Will Be Created in the Region
Ceará will receive an investment of US$ 5.4 billion from the Australian multinational Enegix Energy. The Base One green hydrogen project will be built in partnership with the government of the state of Ceará, where the world’s largest green hydrogen plant will be installed and thousands of jobs will be generated in the region. As per the memorandum signed with Governor Camilo Santana, Enegix will create the world’s largest green hydrogen plant, which will produce more than 600 thousand tons of green hydrogen per year from 3.4 GW of firm power – the maximum continuous production of energy that can be obtained – from combined wind and solar projects.
The Australian Base One project in the Northeast will be in a strategic location for green hydrogen production with direct access to all major international markets via ocean freight.

An industrial area of 500 hectares has been reserved at the Port of Pecém to enable the electrolysis process. The facility will be operated using renewable energy with zero emissions and will take advantage of the great potential of renewable energy that Ceará has available, from onshore and offshore solar and wind energy, allowing the Base One project to expand to a capacity of up to 100 GW to meet global demand.
Thousands of Jobs Will Be Created in Ceará – Northeast
According to a company statement, Base One will create thousands of jobs during construction and will employ hundreds of full-time operational staff to manage its facilities, with positive and far-reaching social benefits for the local community and the state as well.
The new plant will have the potential to reduce annual CO2 emissions by 10 million tons per year and will become the largest carbon emissions reduction project in the world.
The expectation is that the Base One project will take 3 years to be completed. Enegix signed an agreement with an international engineering and consulting firm to conduct a feasibility study and will soon begin the process of obtaining environmental and social licenses. Enegix is seeking partnerships with investors and is conducting a public capital raise.
The Base One project in the Northeast also marks Enegix’s debut in the global market. Enegix Energy is registered in Singapore and Australia and will set up its corporate headquarters in the European country, Switzerland. The company was established with the vision to implement and manage renewable energy networks powered by hydrogen, which is a key component of its strategy and will be used for storage, electricity distribution, transportation, fuel applications, and also re-electrification plants.
