The New Unit Will Be Built on an Area of 118 Thousand Square Meters in Industrial District V. The Land Was Donated by the City Hall as Part of the Effort to Maintain Investment in the City.

The city of Uberaba, in Minas Gerais, will be home to a new factory of the Skala Cosmetics Group, according to an official announcement made by the City Hall this week. The project anticipates an initial investment of R$ 150 million and the generation of 600 direct and indirect jobs.

The new unit will be built on an area of 118 thousand square meters in Industrial District V. The land was donated by the City Hall as part of the effort to maintain investment in the city, in the face of competition from other regions interested in hosting the enterprise.

Skala Strengthens Its Roots in Uberaba

Skala, founded in Uberaba nearly 40 years ago, decided to keep its operations in the municipality even in the face of high demand and external relocation offers. According to the municipal secretary of Economic Development, Tourism and Innovation, Celso Neto, the negotiation with the company was constant and strategic.

“We have conducted a firm and ongoing dialogue with the company to ensure that this investment remained here, despite the strong competition from other cities,” explained the secretary.

Mayor Elisa Araújo also highlighted the importance of Skala’s permanence in the municipality.

“This achievement reinforces the idea that Uberaba is a city of prosperity, a land of giants, a land of beauty, because Skala is from Uberaba to the world,” she declared.

New Skala Factory Will Be Modern and Centralize Production

Set to open in 2027, the new factory will be responsible for concentrating all of the group’s production, replacing the current headquarters, which is located in the urban area of Uberaba. The decision is directly linked to the growth in demand, especially in the international market.

The CEO of the Skala Group, Luis Delfim, stated that the modernization of the structure will be accompanied by investments in professional qualification.

“We are starting a process with our employees for training so that we can have our workforce better qualified in new processes and to operate modern equipment on the production line,” the executive stated.

Generation of Direct and Indirect Jobs

In addition to relocating more than 1,500 employees currently working at the factory, the new unit is expected to generate about 600 jobs, both direct and indirect, according to estimates from the company itself.

During a recent job fair held in Uberaba, Skala received over 200 resumes from candidates interested in joining the workforce of the new unit. The expectation is that, with the proximity of the inauguration, this number will grow even more.

The movement in the job market reinforces the positive impact of the investment on the local economy. The new Skala factory promises not only to maintain the existing jobs but also to broaden professional opportunities in a sector that has been showing strong growth.

Highlight in the Vegan Cosmetics Sector

Skala Cosmetics operates in the personal care segment, focusing on hair and body products. The company has a strong presence in the Brazilian market, especially for hair treatment creams, where it holds a 57% national market share. Additionally, it currently exports to more than 40 countries.

Since July 2018, the brand has become 100% vegan, using only plant-based ingredients in all its products. This transition has consolidated the company’s image as a reference in sustainable practices aligned with new global consumption demands.

Investment Strengthens the Productive Chain and Attracts New Perspectives

The new Skala factory in Uberaba represents not only a milestone for the company but also a boost for the entire regional productive chain. The announced investment is expected to attract suppliers, service providers, and logistics partners to the region, further increasing the economic impact of the installation.

For Uberaba, the project reinforces the strategic role of the city as an industrial hub in the interior of Minas Gerais. The City Hall is already working on infrastructure and logistics actions to meet the demand created by the new unit.

With the confirmation of the new Skala factory, Uberaba strengthens its industrial vocation and prepares to reap the benefits of an investment that combines tradition, innovation, and job creation. The expectation is that by 2027, the municipality will further establish itself as one of the main production hubs for the cosmetics sector in Brazil.
