The Taiwanese company Foxconn, well-known for being the leading manufacturer of the iPhone, continues to invest in its entry into the electric car market and recently presented a solution for the budget model sector, Project X, which could be the first popular electric car in the market. The project was unveiled at the MiH Demo Day event of the MiH consortium (Mobility in Harmony), led by the company but which also includes Microsoft, Lordstown, Tata, and Tomtom.

Project X: The Upcoming Popular Electric Car from the iPhone Manufacturer

The goal of the consortium, which includes over 2,500 companies, is to develop an electric vehicle ecosystem with open standards, and the popular electric car from the iPhone manufacturer is the planned solution for the A sector, the budget cars.

It is worth noting that the project to develop a popular electric car is still in its early stages. Now, the MiH consortium is looking for partners to contribute to the development of the platform, meaning to invest in the project and share their technologies.

The Project X is part of the Build Your Own Vehicle (BYOV) electric car ecosystem. Using a modular design can further reduce the final cost of the popular electric car, making it even more accessible. With this new platform, the iPhone manufacturer plans to develop a compact electric vehicle for up to three passengers at a truly popular price.

Although the vehicle may not be very cheap upon its market arrival, the proposal is to launch a more affordable model than equivalent vehicles from rival companies. The main challenge that must be overcome in the creation of the Foxconn model is the cost of its batteries. The trend is for this vehicle to be quite lightweight; therefore, it should have smaller batteries while maintaining good range.

Other Electric Models Presented During the Event

It is important to highlight that the popular electric car from the iPhone manufacturer with the Project X platform from MiH is only expected to be unveiled by the end of next year, so there is still a long wait for its arrival.

In addition to the Foxconn electric vehicle, the event featured several other news from the MiH consortium. There are already other electric cars developed by the iPhone manufacturer built on the open MiH platform, such as the sporty Model E, the bus Model T, Model B, and the pickup Model V, in addition to the Luxgen n7 SUV, which was previously called Model C.

With modular design and standardized interfaces, it is possible to create products with lower costs and less time. The consortium states that this can generate new business models for car-sharing companies and mobility service providers. The company cites opportunities for logistics services and fleet operators, in addition to new electric car brands.

Nissan Launches New Popular Electric Car

Nissan has decided to expand its line of electric cars with the arrival of the Sakura, an urban zero-emission electric vehicle that could become famous in its launch market, Japan, as its estimated price is R$ 67,000 and it comes with an impressive array of equipment.

Regarding performance, the popular electric car has a motor that can reach 63 horsepower and 19.9 kgfm of torque, offering greater agility in urban traffic with interesting acceleration. The vehicle weighs about 1,000 kg and can reach a maximum speed of 120 km/h.
