Taiwanese Foxconn, responsible for manufacturing the iPhone, consoles and various electronic parts, has partnered with Fisker to enter the electric car industry

iPhone maker Foxconn has partnered with Fisker, an American company, to enter the auto industry and create a popular new electric car, which will cost up to US$30 (R$158 in the current conversion). According to Foxconn and Fisker, forecasts are for the production of 150 units by the end of 2023 and, for the following years, production of electric cars could rise to 250 units.

The development of the iPhone maker's electric cars

All development for Foxconn to enter the electric car industry will be the responsibility of Fisker, who has already worked for BMW, Ford and Aston Martin. However, the manufacture of the electric ones will be carried out in the United States, by the manufacturer of the iPhone. In addition to North America, Project Pear is expected to arrive in Europe, India and China, and this will be the entry of the Taiwanese into the automotive industry.

Liu Young-way, president of Foxconn, recalled the global crisis of semiconductor chips, which has been affecting the entire electrical industry today and assured that, due to the global chain of suppliers that work with the company, there will be no shortage of components on the assembly line.

The coordination of operations

To coordinate operations between Taiwan and the United States, the iPhone maker created a joint office to handle engineering, manufacturing and purchasing.

According to Fisker, Project Pear promises to rethink the electric car in terms of design, user connectivity, proportion and functionality. It is noteworthy that Fisker was one of the first startups of electric cars that became public, through the reverse merger, when publicly traded companies are bought by privately held companies to avoid the IPO.

Meet Foxconn

As one of the largest electronic component manufacturers in the world, Foxconn produces various integrated circuits, and is also known for developing parts for Apple iPhones and iPads, game consoles such as PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii.

The company was founded in 1974, headquartered in Taiwan. In Brazil, it has production lines and factories in the cities of Manaus, Jundiaí, Indaiatuba, Santa Rita do Sapucaí and Sorocaba. In addition, it has almost one million employees around the world.
