Forgotten Brazilian city, Navegantes surprises with an 11 km waterfront, clean beaches, and tranquility on the coast of Santa Catarina.

Located on the North Coast of Santa Catarina, the Brazilian city of Navegantes begins to attract attention even though it is still considered by many to be a “forgotten” destination. With a continuous waterfront of 11 km, clean beaches, and accessible infrastructure, the municipality emerges as an alternative to the more crowded destinations in the region.

The city is about 92 km from Florianópolis and has invested in tourism and infrastructure. The goal is to offer tranquility, contact with nature, and a good experience for visitors, away from the crowds.

Even next to established tourist hubs, Navegantes bets on a more balanced model. Thus, it combines urban development with environmental preservation, a factor that has gained international recognition.

Navegantes offers an 11 km waterfront with structure and free parking

One of the great differentiators of Navegantes is its extensive waterfront of nearly 11 km. Along this stretch, visitors find beaches with good bathing conditions, that is, suitable for swimming.

In addition, the city offers free parking along almost the entire waterfront. This facilitates access and makes the experience more practical for residents and tourists.

Another important point is the presence of a boardwalk and bike path. These spaces encourage walking, strolling, and outdoor activities.

Forgotten Brazilian city preserves restinga and receives international recognition

Although still seen as a forgotten Brazilian city, Navegantes has stood out for its environmental preservation. About 10 km of the coastline is occupied by preserved restinga.

The restinga is a typical coastal vegetation that protects the soil and maintains the ecosystem’s balance. This characteristic helps to conserve the region’s natural landscape.

This care has earned international recognition. The city was included in the “TOP 100 Good Practice Stories” award by the Green Destinations organization.

Navegantes beaches on the 11 km waterfront serve different audiences

The 11 km waterfront of Navegantes hosts beaches with varied profiles. This allows it to cater to different types of visitors.

Gravatá Beach

Located at the northernmost point, it is the busiest beach in the city. The area concentrates bars, restaurants, and accommodation options.

Additionally, it is a meeting point for surfers. The region features attractions such as the Gravatá Jetty and a small island accessible at low tide.

Meia Praia

With less activity, Meia Praia is ideal for families. The sea tends to be calmer, favoring swimming.

The area also offers facilities with a children’s playground and an outdoor gym. There is also a wooden viewpoint near the beach.

Central Beach

Central Beach concentrates most of the urban infrastructure. The space features a revitalized square, playground, and pet area.

In addition, there is lighting, a sports arena, and commerce around. This facilitates access and expands leisure options.

Pontal Beach

At the southernmost point, Pontal Beach attracts surfers and bodyboarders. The area houses the Jetty of the Barra do Rio Itajaí-Açu.

This spot is known for providing views of ship movements and sunsets. On Saturdays, musical performances enhance the tranquil atmosphere.

Navegantes combines tourism, culture, and economic development

In addition to the beaches, Navegantes also stands out for its cultural and religious attractions. The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Navegantes receives thousands of visitors throughout the year.

Another tourist spot is the Barra Lighthouse, where it is possible to observe the entry and exit of vessels. The city also has an airport, facilitating access.

The municipality has about 93,000 inhabitants and an area of 111 km². Its subtropical climate presents temperatures between 18°C and 30°C throughout the year.

Forgotten Brazilian city bets on sustainable growth

The economy of Navegantes has been boosted by investments in infrastructure and tourism. The city’s GDP exceeds R$ 6 billion, showing economic relevance in the region.

In addition, the municipality maintains preserved natural characteristics of the Atlantic Forest. This reinforces its sustainable tourism potential.

The proposal is to grow without losing environmental quality. Therefore, urban planning plays a fundamental role in this process.

Navegantes may stop being a forgotten Brazilian city

Even still considered a forgotten Brazilian city, Navegantes has characteristics that can change this scenario. The combination of an almost 11 km waterfront, preserved nature, and good infrastructure is a competitive differential.

Additionally, the more tranquil profile attracts tourists seeking rest. This audience tends to value less explored destinations.

Thus, the city has the potential to gain more visibility in the coming years. And, gradually, stop being forgotten to establish itself as a highlight on the Santa Catarina coast.
