Study History Without Leaving Home! UFSC Opens 150 Spots for EAD Graduation. Access This Opportunity to Study at a Federal University for Free and Transform Your Future Without Leaving Your City.

Have you thought about getting a degree in history without having to leave home and on top of that completely free?

As distance education gains more strength, many higher education institutions are adapting to the new reality, but few offer such a special chance as this one.

And what can be said when this chance comes from a federal university? It may seem unbelievable, but this golden opportunity is real, and you could be the next to earn your diploma without even needing to leave your city.

The Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) has opened enrollment for the History course in EAD mode, with 150 spots distributed across five cities in the state. The enrollment period is from September 10 to October 9, and the process is completely digital.

With an increasingly competitive market, this degree offered for free by one of the most prestigious universities in the country promises to change the lives of many students, especially those who cannot attend in-person classes. The registration fee is R$ 110, but there is a possibility of exemption for those who enroll by September 27.

Where to Study Without Leaving Home?

The available hubs for students are: Canoinhas, Joinville, Lages, Tubarão, and Videira. Even without needing to be physically in a university campus every day, students will still have in-person exams on November 24, held in these same cities.

This is the chance to obtain a higher education diploma while studying from the comfort of home, without the stress of traffic, something that makes a huge difference compared to those who have to commute daily to major capitals like São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

The exams will be conducted to ensure that all students have a fair and accessible experience, in strategically chosen cities in Santa Catarina, avoiding longer trips and potential logistical complications for those living in these regions.

Affirmative Actions: More Opportunities for Everyone

Following the national trend, half of the available spots are reserved for Affirmative Action Policies (quotas). This measure aims to ensure the inclusion of students who completed high school in Brazilian public schools, and is divided into different categories. These criteria take into account economic and ethnic-racial factors, reinforcing UFSC’s commitment to diversity and social inclusion.

The quota categories are as follows:

  • Low Income: aimed at students whose family’s income is equal to or less than a minimum wage per person.
  • PPI – Black, Brown, and Indigenous People and Quilombolas: taking phenotype into consideration for black and brown candidates, while ethnic ancestry defines the category for indigenous people and quilombolas.
  • PCD – Person with Disabilities: aimed at people with disabilities, upon presentation of a valid medical report.

Care in Registration: Stay Alert

A detail that deserves attention is the choice of quota category at the time of registration. Errors at this moment may result in losing the spot, as there are verification boards to ensure the authenticity of the information provided. It is essential to read the notice carefully and understand each of the categories well.

Comparisons with Brazil: Increasing Accessibility

In Brazil, accessibility to higher education has evolved considerably in recent years, but most people still face difficulties regarding mobility and costs.

Studying from home reduces obstacles related to transportation, which, in large cities where traffic can take up to 2 hours a day, represents a huge gain.

Imagine how this would impact someone living in São Paulo, where distances can be up to 50 km/h between home and university.

In the case of UFSC, this distance course promotes a new way of thinking about education in the country, which approaches standards adopted in developed countries, such as the United States, where online education has been a consolidated reality for many years.

Exemption from Registration Fee: Who Can Request?

For those concerned about the cost of registration, UFSC offers the possibility of exemption. The request must be made by September 27, and it is important to observe all the requirements indicated in the notice to ensure that you can take advantage of this benefit.

This option is mainly aimed at students who are already in a situation of financial vulnerability. Thus, the university seeks to facilitate access to education, especially for those who otherwise could be excluded from the selection process due to economic reasons.

Finalizing Your Registration: Consult the Notice

Before completing your registration, make sure to carefully consult the notice available on the course website and verify all information regarding dates, required documents, and the correct way to register. Errors can cost you your spot, and the entire process is detailed in the notice, so that no one has problems due to lack of information.

UFSC continues to be one of the best options for free higher education in Brazil, and this chance to study history at a distance is proof of that. If you have a passion for learning about the past and want to do so accessibly, without the high costs of a private university, this could be your opportunity. Click here to enroll!

Will this new distance graduation format be able to revolutionize higher education in Brazil and open doors to a more inclusive future?
