The market for Electric Trucks is growing every day, and with increasing concern for environmental preservation and energy efficiency, this trend is expected to continue. One of the main leaders in this market is Tesla, whose Semi truck is considered one of the most advanced and innovative models in the industry. However, other manufacturers are also beginning to venture into this area, and one of them is the Chinese company JAC, which is developing a new fully electric truck.
Recently, JAC participated in an important new car exhibition event organized by the Chinese government, and displayed the fully electric truck with the slightly peculiar name, the JAC HFC4259SEV01. This vehicle was produced through collaboration among many different companies, including Lionbridge, Baidu, Suzhou Green Control, and CATL.
The cabin of the JAC HFC4259SEV01 gives the impression of being smaller than that of the Tesla Semi, but follows the same development approach. The windshield is slanted for optimal aerodynamics, which helps to increase the range that can be achieved by the batteries. Additionally, the vehicle has conventional side mirrors, and the front mirror is positioned below the windshield, which is an interesting design choice due to the backward slant of the electric truck’s cabin.

The electric motors of JAC’s truck were created by Suzhou Green Control and are responsible for producing 492 kilowatts (KW) of power, which is equivalent to 668 horsepower. The batteries are made of lithium iron phosphate and were supplied by CATL.
Together, these components are expected to ensure a range of over 200 kilometers. The truck’s empty weight is 11 tons, and the maximum towing capacity is approximately 38 tons, placing it in line with the standards used in North America.
However, it is important to note that JAC only showcased a prototype of the vehicle and did not provide further information about it, including the price or when production would begin. Despite this, it is clear that the JAC HFC4259SEV01 was clearly inspired by the Tesla model, and shows the increasingly fierce competition in the electric truck market.
JAC Has A Long Way To Go With Its Electric Truck To Reach The Level Of Innovation And Development Of The Tesla Model
With innovative features such as aerodynamic design, autonomous driving system, and a range of over 800 kilometers, depending on the configuration, the Tesla Semi has been seen as the electric truck of the future. Additionally, Tesla has invested in infrastructure for fast charging of trucks, aiming to make traveling with electric trucks as convenient as possible.
JAC, on the other hand, still has a long way to go before reaching the level of innovation and development of its competing electric truck. However, it is important to mention that JAC has a strong presence in the Chinese market and a wide range of electric vehicles, including small cars, buses, and another electric truck model, the iEV 1200T. Moreover, the government of its country has heavily invested in electric vehicles, which may give JAC a significant advantage in the market.
The JAC HFC4259SEV01 electric truck is proof that other manufacturers are starting to venture into the market. While there is still much to be done before reaching the level of innovation and development of the Tesla Semi, it is important to note that JAC has a strong presence in the electric vehicle market and may have a significant advantage due to the strong investment from the Chinese government.
