JBS Received an Advance on Environmental Licenses from the Government of Santa Catarina to Expand Its Units in Itaiópolis and Mafra
Last week, representatives of JBS met with the mayor of the city of Itaiópolis, in the state of Santa Catarina, to announce new investments in the unit. The meeting took place in Mayor Mozart Myczkowski’s office, and new plans for the new feed and premix factories were announced, which will receive investments and generate new jobs for the region. Government of Santa Catarina Advances Environmental Licenses for JBS Units
At the end of June, the government of Santa Catarina announced in a statement that it expedited the issuance of environmental licenses so that JBS can modernize and expand its poultry units at Seara in the city of Itaiópolis and its biodiesel unit in Mafra.
Both investments are expected to total R$ 442 million, the department states, adding that R$ 262 million will be allocated for the expansion of the poultry slaughterhouse, feed factory, and premix facility in Itaiópolis. In Mafra, the investment reaches R$ 180 million and will be used to expand the biodiesel unit. Such investments could create around 750 new jobs in the state of Santa Catarina.

Expansion of the Company’s Units in Santa Catarina
The preliminary environmental license, issued by the Environmental Institute (IMA), is the first of three mandatory environmental authorizations and declares the locational feasibility of the project.
According to the Secretary of Agriculture Altair Silva, this environmental license for JBS ensures important investments in the region. It is news that demonstrates the strength of agribusiness, a sector that continues to grow in Santa Catarina, generating jobs, development, and revenue for the economy of Santa Catarina. Santa Catarina is a job-generating state that believes in the potential of its people, and this investment will be very important for us to continue on the path of development, concluded the secretary.
The expansion will also impact the field, as there will be 16 new integrated producers and 63 additional poultry houses serving the Itaiópolis unit. JBS aims to increase monthly production by 1,400 tons, reaching 7,800 tons of finished product per month.

JBS recently announced that it will invest R$ 1.8 billion in its factory located in Rolândia, in the state of Paraná. The investment from one of the largest companies in the agro-industrial sector in the country will be used for the construction of the largest plant for breaded products and sausages in the world, and it is expected that 2,600 new jobs will be created at the unit.
Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior, Governor of the State of Paraná, attended the ceremony announcing JBS’s investments in the new unit, which is already in the initial phase of construction. The expansion of shifts and modernization of the Seara poultry unit in the city located in the northern part of the state of Paraná will also be carried out. Ratinho Junior stated that the state of Paraná has a vocation for producing food and feeding the world, and that it will now host the largest plant for breaded products and sausages on the planet.
