For A While Now, Jeff Bezos Has Had A Voracious Appetite For Real Estate. Wherever He Goes, He Buys. This Happened In Florida, Where He Acquired Several Mansions On The Artificial Island Of Indian Creek, Also Known As The “Billionaire Bunker”. In Miami, He Made Million-Dollar Buys In Record Time.

So, When He Appeared Out Of Nowhere In Montserrat, People Imagined The Worst. Rumors Started Spreading:

️ “Did You See What He Did In Miami? We’re Done For!”

The Concern Was Not Without Reason. Mark Zuckerberg And Larry Ellison Have Already Purchased Large Areas In Hawaii, Displacing Local Residents And Completely Changing The Dynamics Of The Area. And No One Wanted The Same To Happen In Montserrat.

The Government Of Montserrat Had To Intervene

The Panic Was So Great That The Island’s Prime Minister, Reuben Meade, Had To Make An Official Statement To Calm The People.

“Jeff Bezos Is Here Only As A Tourist. There Is No Purchase Being Made”, Meade Assured, Trying To End The Rumors. But, Like Any Gossip, The Story Didn’t Stop There.

He Had To Reinforce That Bezos Could Not Simply Buy Land On The Island, As Any Sale To Foreigners Requires A Government License. In Other Words, If Any Deal Were Being Closed, They Would Know.

But Was That Enough To Calm The People? Well… Not Really.

If There’s One Thing A Billionaire Can Cause Besides Panic, It’s Hope. Some Residents Decided That Since Bezos Was Around, It Couldn’t Hurt To Try To Get A Little Investment From Him.

“Or Perhaps With The Hospital… We Really Need Improvements!”, Commented Another.

Of Course, No One Knows If Bezos Paid Attention To These Requests. As Far As We Know, He Continued His Journey Without Opening His Wallet. But One Thing Is Certain: The Island Was Never The Same After His Visit.
