Heading to Brazil in a Bonanza F33 single-engine aircraft: a couple departs from Florida on a visual flight, makes technical stops in the Caribbean to refuel and organize paperwork, and begins the staged crossing until they reach the country.
She attended the same rural school her parents did, who did not finish elementary school.
Even in simple conditions, Camila continued studying and became the first person in her family to complete higher education.
To buy school supplies, the young woman collected cashews and sold popsicles. Her first contact with cinema only happened at the age of 16, after saving money for three months.
During her Nursing degree at the Unified Teaching Center of Piauí, CEUPI, Camila relied on a full scholarship from ProUni.
Until the end of the course, she did not have a computer and did academic work using her cell phone.
Personal Motivation to Pursue Nursing
Choosing the health field was also directly influenced by her family. Camila explains that she has a younger sister on the autism spectrum, which sparked curiosity and interest in better understanding the field of nursing.
According to her, the goal was to understand and seek solutions that could improve her sister’s quality of life and contribute to her being more respected in society.
Camila states that her sister has become a constant inspiration to continue studying and seeking new knowledge.
Young Woman’s Path to Scholarships to Study in the United States
The preparation to seek scholarships to study in the United States began when Camila decided to learn English on her own. She watched videos on YouTube and used the internet to study the language.
During her research on studying abroad, she learned about EducationUSA, the official network of the U.S. Department of State that provides information on academic opportunities in the country.
According to Camila, the program offered support at different stages of the application process to universities.
She claims she received physical, financial, and emotional support throughout the preparation of her applications.
The student also highlighted that she considers EducationUSA essential for obtaining acceptance from the universities.
Young Woman’s Academic Guidance and Performance Recognition
EducationUSA advisor Fernanda Ribeiro accompanied Camila’s application process to American universities.
According to Fernanda, the team guided each stage of the application process, while the outcome achieved is related to the student’s academic performance and dedication.
The advisor states that Camila’s journey shows how educational opportunities can arise when talent meets adequate support.
Fernanda also recalls a memorable episode from the student’s story. Camila had the dream of seeing the sea and fulfilled that wish by traveling to Rio de Janeiro through the program.
According to her, that moment was recorded as one of the most special during the follow-up.
Event Expands Access to Scholarships to Study in the United States
EducationUSA also announced the free EducationUSA Fair 2026, aimed at Brazilians interested in studying at U.S. universities.
The event will take place from March 19 to 31 and will feature the participation of over 60 universities from the United States.
The fair will visit Rio de Janeiro, Recife, Fortaleza, Goiânia, Porto Alegre, and São Paulo.
During the event, admissions directors and representatives of institutions will present undergraduate, master’s, and PhD programs, English courses, and scholarship opportunities.
According to Fernanda Ribeiro, the initiative allows students to speak directly with university representatives and better understand study opportunities abroad.
She emphasizes that direct contact can help candidates understand that studying in the United States can be feasible, even with financial support.
