The French courts determined, this Tuesday (16), that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) must pay €60 million to Kylian Mbappé for unpaid salaries and contractual bonuses.
A labor court in Paris made the decision and partially concluded the long legal dispute between the striker and the club, which began shortly before his transfer to Real Madrid.
The case involved amounts related to the months of April, May, and June 2024, the period leading up to Mbappé’s departure from the French team.

According to the ruling, PSG failed to prove that the player had formally waived these payments, which led the judges to recognize the debt.
What Led Kylian Mbappé To Take Legal Action Against PSG
The dispute began when Kylian Mbappé took legal action in France, claiming that PSG had withheld a significant portion of his remuneration.
The player argued that the club had not paid three months’ salary, along with a loyalty bonus and a signing bonus outlined in the contract.
These amounts had already been recognized as due in previous decisions by the French Professional Football League (LFP), issued in September and October 2024.
Still, the deadlock proceeded to court, given the club’s refusal to make full payment.
Mbappé’s Lawyer Celebrates The Decision Of The French Justice
After the announcement of the ruling, the player’s defense celebrated the favorable outcome.
“We are satisfied with the decision. It was to be expected when salaries went unpaid,” said Mbappé’s lawyer, Frederique Cassereau, to reporters.
The statement reinforces the position of the athlete’s legal team, which has always maintained that the case did not involve sports or transfer issues, but rather a strict compliance with French labor law.
PSG Tried To Nullify Payments And Lost Key Arguments
During the proceedings, PSG argued that Kylian Mbappé should lose all outstanding salaries, claiming unfair behavior on the part of the player.
According to the club, the striker had concealed for nearly a year his intention not to renew his contract, which would have hindered a profitable sale similar to the signing made with AS Monaco in 2017 for €180 million.
However, the judges rejected this thesis. The court stated that PSG did not present any written agreement that proved the athlete’s waiver of the claimed amounts, weakening the club’s defense.
Court Limits Additional Compensation Requested By Mbappé
Despite the financial victory, Kylian Mbappé did not have all his claims met by the French Justice.
The court rejected additional requests involving allegations of hidden work, moral harassment, and violation of the duty of care by the employer.
Furthermore, the judges decided that the player’s contract could not be equated to a permanent contract.
Thus, this interpretation limited possible compensation related to notice and dismissal indemnities, reducing the overall financial scope of the action.
Transfer To Real Madrid Was Not The Focus Of The Action
Mbappé’s representatives emphasized that the dispute was not directly related to his transfer to Real Madrid, which was completed without transfer fees.
According to the defense, the case dealt exclusively with the application of labor law and the payment of remuneration outlined in the contract.
