Keppel Offshore & Marine of Singapore (Keppel O & M) Secures Repeat Customer Contracts Worth Approximately S $ 130 Million (US $ 95.8 Million) for a New Dredger and Modification of a Floating Storage and Production (FPSO) Vessel.

The contracts were secured through Keppel’s subsidiaries, Keppel FELS and Keppel Shipyard, the company reported on Tuesday. Chris Ong, CEO of Keppel O & M, said: “We are pleased to secure these contracts from loyal customers, as it reflects the market’s confidence in Keppel O & M’s tailored solutions for new vessels and FPSO conversions. This is the third dredger built for Van Oord and the third FPSO project for Yinson.”

The first contract is between Keppel FELS and Van Oord to construct a high specification Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD). This results from an option granted to Van Oord based on previous contracts entered into in May 2018 for two similar dredgers.

Expected to be completed in Q1 2022, the TSHD will have a hopper capacity of 10,500m3. The dredger will be built according to the requirements of the classification society Bureau Veritas (BV) and will be ready for LNG.

FPSO Update

The second contract is between Keppel Shipyard and Yinson Nepeta Production Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Yinson Production, for the rapid modification and upgrade of the FPSO Allan. The scope of work for Keppel Shipyard includes refurbishment and life extension work, fabrication and installation of a new riser area, anchoring system, and helipad, as well as modification of the vessel’s topsides and marine systems.

The project for Yinson is scheduled to begin in Q3 2019 with delivery expected in Q1 2020. Upon completion, the FPSO will have a storage capacity of 700,000 barrels of oil and a processing capacity of 60,000 barrels of oil per day. It will be deployed in the Anyala and Madu fields offshore Nigeria for First Exploration and Petroleum Development Co Ltd.

Eirik Barclay, CEO of Yinson Offshore Production, said: “We chose to partner with Keppel Shipyard for this accelerated upgrade project as the market is showing a positive trend with a growing number of awards and project proposals. We are very excited to work with Keppel on this project, and we are confident that they can once again deliver a safe and timely high-quality service to Yinson.”

In Brazil

Brasfels Shipyard, which is also a shipyard of the Keppel Fels Group, is looking forward to the works of the FPSO Búzios 5, which will serve Petrobras in pre-salt projects in the Santos Basin. This contract was sealed in June, and the local content issue is expected to be defined by the end of 2019.

In addition to shipyard services, Brasfels is now entering the offshore maintenance mode and has been contracting some professionals since last month, even being a topic on the news. Check it out here.
